If you know, please share. I study comp sci and I just don't see how "hacking" into a profile is possible unless the person signs their password into a phishing site.

^ Sorry, not going to post specifics... but my point is that there is no such thing as privacy online. NONE. Just because facebook offers privacy settings does not mean someone will not find a way around them (and they have). Same thing for myspace.

Old skool hackers love finding holes in stuff like this and have broken into and exploited much more sophisticated systems than facebook or myspace. In fact, Britney Spears' twitter account was recently hacked too. If you are studying Comp Sci then you know that nothing is hack proof.

One last thing I tell people regularly: social networking sites are great and a lot of fun; just do not post any content there that you would not want your neighbors, your boss or your family members to see- (in other words, the whole world! ) If you follow that rule, you'll be fine.

Absolutely.

I am able to view albums from people who have their page for non-friends "closed" if a friend of mine is linked in one of the pictures!!

What in the world...why would I write down all of my passwords on an application and just hand it over to the city. Outside of them accessing my accounts just them having all of my passwords sitting around like that. What happens when those applications are lost/stolen and my password and accounts have been hacked...who is responsible.

HECK AND NO!!!
