I think the groom must really want to be famous, have "face". The typical salary for a college grad in major cities varies from 2000RMB to 20,000RMB. The type of work and the connections you have determines how much you make. Lots of people save months and years of salary to furnish a lavish wedding so they can have "face".

Gosh I hope they take all that fabric and have it sewn up into clothes afterwards or given to a charity or something...otherwise, extremely selfish and wasteful, IMO!
