China says a decision by the US Congress to honour the Dalai Lama will "seriously" damage relations between the countries. The Congress will give the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, with an award this week at a ceremony attended by US President George W Bush. "The move will seriously damage China-US relations," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular news conference. He added that Beijing hopes that the US will "correct its mistakes" and "stop interfering in the internal affairs of China." |
