This reminds me of a recent incident....My uncle threw away my aunt's most prized jewelry including heirloom jewelry from my grandmother. It was in a fake can of pledge under her bed. He shook it and it didn't work, so he tossed it. She cried for weeks. Lots of valuable stuff at the dump, I'm sure! Too bad.

That's horrible! That's why I hate it when my mom goes around "cleaning" my room. and because everything gets in a new place.

thats heartbreaking! cash is one thing, but something sentimental like jewelry is so much worse imo

My grandpa is a big believer in keeping money in gold. He had about 100 or so solid gold 1oz coins in a cornucopia (Thanksgiving thing)... my grandma was cleaning out old decorations and threw them out!
