I remember hearing in Africa that the men would rape virgins and in doing so would get rid of aids. The only true way of finding a virgin girl was to rape babies. But these guys were just misinformed.

This is not feasable honey... just HOW are we supposed to check the backgrounds of our boyfriends when there is in place the privacy laws?

To blame the mother is beyond ludacrous, it's not going to happen. And she has paid the ultimate price for not knowing him better. If you blame the mother or parents of every sex offender who "should have checked him out", then you doom every woman to a life without any relationships. Speedy, thanks for saying this. This woman has lost her child, in the most horrific circumstances Guys who want to abuse children can be really smart about it and 'groom' single mothers. I don't know her circumstances, or anything about their relationship prior to the attack, but unless someone knows something concrete that makes this woman culpable I think she deserves our sympathy.

Sorry, as I said in an earlier post: someone who is crazy/evil enough to RAPE a CHILD and then KILL that child does not do this out of the blue. There must have been symptoms of his mental illness or evilness or whatever you want to call it.

Women often will blind themselves for the fault of the men they date. Leaving her child with this man IS criminal because I highly doubt she did not notice at least a few things amiss about his character.

How can you call the mother guilty? And even if she were to be guilty, she just LOST HER CHILD. That is the most horrible thing that could happen to a parent and she still has to live with that for the rest of her life. It's really not our place to say that she was incompetent for not checking out his criminal record.

Again, I cannot blame the mother, and there is no way of knowing if there were signs before this. As my niece Erin told me 10 months after her ex threw gasoline on her and ended up killing her daughter and their son, "I knew he would hit me, abuse me, but I never ever thought he'd hurt the children." She too paid the untimate price of having chosen the wrong man to try to have a relationship with. By ALL accounts, Mark Fregia was a wonderful father to the two children he ultimately set fire to. No-one, even me, disputes this.

In this day and age, we don't "see" the signs for what they are until it's too late. For all we know, he was a good father figure, and in being one, he was hoping the mother WOULD leave the child with him. He didn't molest the child before this happened, I'm sure if he had, the mother would have taken steps to get away from him. No, I cannot and will not condemn this mother for this action. There is only one person to blame for this, and it's the man.

Another case in point. Richard Allen Davis was never convicted or even suspected in a sex crime before he kidnapped Polly Klaas out of her home. He did have a bunch of crimes under his belt, but none involved a little girl.

The guy who kidnapped and killed Carlie Bruscia (Joseph Smith I think) was a hard-working guy who'd had a few brushes with the law, none involving kidnapping, sexually assualting and or murdering a little girl.

That Duncan guy... he killed a family of three, a father, mother and son, kidnapped and repeatedly raped the daughter before she was seen in a convience store with him, and he was caught. Other than some drug charges, he'd never done time.

Heck, we can go back before my time too... Charles Starkweather... a two-bit hood killed 12 people, including his girlfriend's family. Before this, all he'd ever done was steal a few cars and some petty stuff.

Even back to the 30's... Leopold and Loeb. They were child prodigies, on the level of MENSA members, and they kidnapped and murdered a young boy. Why? To prove they could outsmart anyone, including the police. Now you could tell me it was the mother of the young boys fault, since she allowed her 10-12 year old son to go to and from school alone.

There is just NO WAY to know by looking or even documenting every person's actions to know who will take that giant leap and murder a child, let alone rape them. Not all display signs of being an animal, most are well within genuis range, like Ted Bundy, Scott Peterson, John E. List and many more are manipulative, like John Wayne Gacy, Charlie Manson and Richard Rameriz.

Nope, I can't blame the mother of this child, anymore than I will blame the mothers of the above named criminals.
