It sounds like that is the case...from the article:

"A large number of bodies also had red lesions in their mucous membranes, which the paper said is usually associated with asphyxia, or lack of oxygen."

So sad and scary. It seems like it may have at least been quick.

what i don't understand this sentence:
"This person told the paper that bodies were found "mutilated" with no clothing, a strong indication of violent depressurization caused by a structural rupture. "
--> how could their clothing have come off? what do they mean with "violent depressurization caused by structural rupture"? I m not understanding that. If structural rupture, wouldn't the bodies be torn appart? How come the clothes came off but the bodies were still in one piece, even if they had broken bones?

Falling from that far up & at that speed would rip their clothing off. They didn't find everyone so maybe the bodies that were torn apart are what they didn't find. Not to be gross but there are many things in the ocean that would eat whats left.

The peoples condition probably had to do with where they were sitting on the plane & where the most damage was done to the plane.

There is no air at how high up these folks were when the plane was destoyed. They would of died instantly.

Well, Boeing isn't immune either. Their dreamliner project was pushed back AGAIN-- after FAA engineers discovered the WINGS needed reinforcements where they ATTACH TO THE SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT!!

I'm a few days late back to this thread but thanks for the keep it real with facts, VLL. Facts hurt but truth is the truth. My deepest condolences to the families of these victims...and to the recovery team for finding a cause and SOLUTION to this pronto.

Flight 447 Pilot's body retrieved

PARIS – Search crews in the mid-Atlantic have retrieved the bodies of the chief pilot of Flight 447 and a flight attendant, Air France said Thursday.
The two are among 50 bodies pulled out of the ocean in the international search for remains of the 228 victims and wreckage of the May 31 crash.
Air France, in a statement on its Web site, said the pilot and male flight attendant have been identified but did not release their names. A pilots' union named the flight captain as Frenchman Marc Dubois.
Earlier this week the international police agency Interpol said 11 of the 50 bodies retrieved had been identified: eight Brazilians, one with joint Brazilian-German citizenship, one Brazilian-Swiss and a Briton.
On Wednesday Germany's Foreign Ministry said three Germans — two men from Bavaria and a woman from Hamburg — have been identified. The ministry did not release their names.

apparently there were storms so everything was washed away by the waves. it was days before they could search the area because the weather was very bad. bodies and debris have been carried to all parts of that area....
