YAY!! thank god I arrived safely in amman. I'm here! Loved the flight, some lady asked me if I could switch seats with her so she could sit with her family. I said SURE. Turned out the seat i switched to had no passengers sitting next to them. I had all three seats to myself. COOL! oh and a I had a very long layover in Paris, and to say the least I hated it. OH lawd, the sprite bottle smaller than the average 99cents price in the US, was like frekin 5 euros! the internet cost money. I was afraid I had to pay to go to the BR..

Same thing happened to me last time I went to South America and it was so awesome On the trip back the flight was packed though, so I've wowed to never fly economy on long-haul again (sorry, I'm not a snob, but I do have claustrophobia and 13 hours with what - 31 inches between the seats and the person sitting in front of me HAVING to recline his seat just becomes too much for me..)
Anyway, enough OT from me

I'll be on vacation for a month and it involves taking long haul flights... I'm scared. I've been trying to talk my husband out of it but he won't budge. I'm frustrated... and scared. I will be driving from Kansas to Chicago and then fly there to Manila (almost 24 hour flight). Afterward, fly to Seoul and then fly again to Chicago and then drive to New York. I do not understand why he calls it a vacation when I'm flying all the time.

My hands get sweaty on the plane and I get really uneasy. I tried taking two benadryls and didnt work. I was fully awake the whole flight. I think I need to take Xanax the next time. I tried desensitizing myself by taking flying every three months for the last two years and didnt work! I need therapy I think... Help!

Vilette, I don't like flying either. I know it is safe, etc. but I still don't like it. Why don't you ask your doctor for a prescription for Xanax or something similar, to help you get through the flights? I mentioned my fear to my doctor, and she was glad to write a prescription for me.

I just came back from Europe and my good friend did that for the flights. I was jealous to say the least because I hate flying and not being knocked out dosent help. One Xanax and he was gone before take off.

did the Xanax help a lot? I've been terrified of flying since I was 11 and absolutely hate doing it. Next month I'll have to take a 8 hour flight by myself and I'm so scared. It will be the first time I've flown alone....I'm thinking about calling my doctor and getting something for the anxiety. I don't want something to make me sleepy (as I'm traveling alone) but something to not make me as nervous.

OMG I get so jealous when I see so many ppl sleeping and I'm like the only one awake. I can never really fall a sleep on a plane, even by taking bendryal or sleep aid.

never drink soft drinks in france unless you buy it from the supermarket, it's cheaper to drink wine (seriously)!

FYI about the weather in that area that Flight 447 flew and crashed

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/science...rms/index.html

High pressure in the Northern Hemisphere churns air from the northeast toward the equator. On the flip side, air is steered from the southeast by high pressure in the Southern Hemisphere. The winds that move this air toward the equator are also known as "trade winds" and converge in the middle of the tropics. That's where the Intertropical Convergence Zone name comes from.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone, which circles the Earth near the equator, is where officials say Air France Flight 447 plunged into the Atlantic Ocean. While weather has not been cited as a reason for the plane's crash, the tragedy does call attention to the region.

********

I guess no further reports if the black box was found? I assume the search continues
