You know I've been thinking about this and what they had to go through is so scary. Imagine being in a car 30,000 feet in the air, and then just dropping. I could just imagine them holding each others hands while it was dropping. Hopefully they passed out before feeling anything.
What do you think happens to the bodies. Do they just sink thousands of feet below the sea? Omg just thinking about gives me the shivers. |

If there was a piece of plane and airplane seats in the debris, but they weren't from this flight then where WERE they from? Where did the oil slick come from? Was there another plane or ship lost in the area? And if this isn't the debris field from this flight, then where is it?

^ I know right. All these reports I find are so repetitive and vague.

It's like one minute they were at the airport heading home, without knowing that the next x amount of minutes would be their last. Live everyday like its your last. Too often we say that, but don't really live it. |

^ Except it is impossible to live everyday like it is your last. Sometimes we need to do the dishes, shop for groceries and clean the loo - or spend the day on a plane. I can tell you that if I knew it would be my last day I would do NONE of those things! So we need to remember to tell people how much they mean to us, but we cannot literally live each day like it is our last.

This entire thing really gives me chills. It is so sad, and a bit mysterious.
I'm always nervous flying over the water (not sure why...I'm sure a crash on land would be just as bad). The Bermuda triangle worries me a little too...all of that really makes me wonder how I will handle my first long flight over water. My thoughts and prayers to all of the family and friends of this tragedy. |

^^^It makes me nervous too. If you crash on land there is a chance you may get out alive. If not they can at least find your body. Crashing in the middle of the ocean in a storm - even if you are alive help is not close at hand and you may be too injured to save yourself.
For some reason this crash gives me the chills. |

so if the oil slick isn't from the plane wouldn't that mean that the possibility of a bomb or an explosion of some other kind is back on the table? i do think that if it had been a terrorist attack someone would have claimed responsibility by now. but where did the airplane seat come from?
i can understand pallets and oil slicks coming from a ship or something, but an airplane seat? if another plane had crashed there we would surely have heard about it?as for being able to download the black box data remotely, they talked about this on the radio here yesterday and apparently the problem would be that the battery on the black box would have to be prohibitively enormous. just emitting a signal so that you can track the black box down would use a tiny fraction of the power you'd need to transmit the at least several hundred mb if not a few gbs of data you'd have on those recorders (several hours of audio takes up a lot of space, i doubt they'd be recording in mp3/ma4/aac). also, i could be wrong about this but i'm not sure the recorders are digital, they haven't been on the episodes of aircrash investigations i've seen but then most of the crashes they've done have been from at least a decade ago. i wonder what kind of technology they'd need for them to transmit the data rather than just a signal that could also be made to withstand the impact of an aircrash, i highly doubt it's as simple as making a super power bluetooth or something, and it's not as if they have wifi on the bottom of the ocean.

So if the debris was not from the plane.. have they found anything from it? The airplane seat was not part of the plane?
I really hope they find something soon. My heart goes out to everyone involved. |

This is just too mysterious for me to wrap my mind around. Then to have debris just floating in the ocean from who knows where, when, what plane...its is just insane.
It makes me wonder if their was another plane involved and nobody knows about it, or they just arent telling us. My thoughts are with the families of these victims, how horrible to just not know anything about what happened to their loved ones. |

My take on this is that none of the debris that they have recovered is from the missing plane (ie. the wooden pallet). It doesn't mean that other debris that was spotted, eg. passenger seat, floats, large piece of metal, isn't from the plane, it's just that they haven't been able to recover any of that yet. Could be wrong though...but it's one way of looking at it.

If they did explode in midair, would there still be hope to recover some sort of debris? is there any possibility that they crashed somewhere else?? I know that they disappeared from the radar around that area, and that other people saw something there. then there's reports that this lady is calling her husband's phone and it's ringing-meaning it's on, so if the phone is intact somewhere, can't they work with cellphone carriers to figure out a location? And this guy rarely ever has his phone on. so if he actually turned the phone on, maybe he was trying to contact someone, or he managed to leave a goodbye message in it. |

exactly. what plane did it come from? shouldn't they also be researching that as well? if there is no debris on water that isn't found from the plane, then it couldn't possibly have exploded in the air. Also, planes float on water so if it took a nose dive, wouldn't it come back into the surface or something?? I was telling my co-worker that perhaps terrorist hijacked and removed the signal from the plane, but he reassured me that they probably would have made demands by now. so as of right now, the plane just up and vanished. My hearts go out to the surviving family...it must be unbearable to see that not only are the bodies not found, but the plane itself. |
