Yeee-ikes.. this is just heineous - how could someone take advantage of a child like that, let alone a child that can't even communicate a need for help !

This would be my nightmare. It's one thing for the average caregiver to come unhinged during an autistic tantrum but these are trained professionals who should know better.
My son is autistic and I've made it my life's work to make sure he is safe and content where ever he ends up going in education and beyond. This is what I have to keep in mind every time I visit a potential schooling environment for him. I visited a autism school once and while I liked everything about it, I couldn't shake the disturbed feeling I got from the residential staff. Some autistic individuals may possibly end up receiving worse treatment behind closed doors after school hours. |

Just awful. That woman testifying should be barred from teaching. It burns me that she can admit to calling him stupid and then vow to keep teaching.
