Oh boy.....some of the things that girl says in the article are really sad...
"I'm not going to play with toys anymore - I have a new toy now," Kordeza told reporters as she showed off little Violeta. "It feels strange...now I must grow up. I am not going back to school." That poor child, her "mother" thinks that she is a toy, and she isn't going to be educated past 11 years old.... |

i dont understand how he is facing jail time for getting her pregnant, yet theyre allowed to get married?
the whole situation is so sad. what was a 19 year old doing with an 11 year old in the first place? where were her parents? and why is the quote from grandma "it's normal for our girls to have babies young"

Cultural differences...I'm not defending her grandmother's statement or the whole situation, but I think it's unfair to judge this based on our cultural values or norms.
Do we have any TPFers from their region who can shed some light on this? |

The parents obviously consented to her marriage, which made it legal, I guess. But she was still below the consenting age, so he gets locked up. According to the guy, he thought she was 15 years old....um, sure dude. That was really sad that the grandma somehow thought it was normal to have a child before you hit 12 years old.... |
