Default While you are TTC, what things are you avoiding consuming?

Like Diet Coke, Advil, coffee?

My doctors said everything in moderation is fine...even alcohol. What has your doctors and reading told you to avoid?

When I started ttc, I switched from regular coffee to half/caff and gritted my teeth through headaches and other pains so that i didn't have to take advil (tylenol doesn't work for me) or my naproxen (my anti inflammatory for my back).......just in case!!

Well I'm at the 2 week torture now so I lay off meds (naproxen etc) if possible, caffeine and alcohol and try and eat healthy.

Yeah, what are the do's and dont's. I've heard caffiene is a no-no but only when you're pregnant.
Is caffiene a no-no when you're TTC? I can't kick my caffiene habbit, but if my MD says it will improve my chances then by gosh i'm gonna have to like decaffeinated drinks.

^^ you should be fine having caffeine and advil when your TTC...You should really only be careful once you find out your pregnant, but even then, it takes several weeks..(I think week 6 or 7 of pregnancy) before the baby gets its nutrition from you, because the placenta isnt fully developed until then. Alcohol is even ok when your TTC, just not once youre pregnant..but I think a lot of us stay away from alcohol during O week and thru the 2 week torture, just to be safe.. I hope I make sense.

I am trying to stay away from green tea- my favorite , coke and all caffeine stuffs and of course alcohol. When my AF came 2 weeks ago, I took Tylenol to release my cramps instead of Aleve.

I would limit myself to two cups of coffee a day, I rarely drink cola, but I tried to stay away from caffienated beverages.

I had to stop having 2 coffees a day, now maybe I have 3 or 4 cups a week and drink a lot of Sprite Zero.

Medicine which had anything to do with inflammation as it could prevent ovulation.

I stopped with all coffee drinks (drank a diet coke though), meds except for prenatal vitamins, and stopped drinking. It was hard because I get really car sick, and we were on a road trip at the time. I missed my Dramamine. :( It wasn't worth the risk though.

Caffeine is ok so long as you limit yourself to no more than 2 cups a day. Then again caffeine varies with the bean and preparation, also bear in mind teas and chocolate can be caffeinated, not just coffees. You should be able to consume coffee right through pregnancy. You can find all these answers at Babycenter.com

I do not consume diet sodas nor alcohol so TTC didn't make a difference. What really made a difference was I started taking multivitamins with folic acid (folate), which is highly recommended at least for 3 consecutive months prior to getting pregnant because by the time you get pregnant it's already a little too late.
