TTC but drinking heavily?

ok..so i was at a party this weekend, where I saw an acquaintance that I had met a few times before, but never really talked to... this time however we got to talking about how my husband and I would like to start TTC this summer and that she also was. Actually she had 2 miscarriages and was now on fertility treatments and getting artificially inseminated every month? Which I found odd, seemed like that was pretty often... but I don't know much about the process. She also said that she was taking a shot twice a day and has been for 6 months. The part I find so odd, is that here she is "Trying" to conceive, but she was trashed by the end of the evening, she was doing shots, eating crappy food... I just was irriated that someone would spend that kind of money and effort, only to IMO throw it all away by introducing heavy amounts of alcohol into the equation!
I just found that to be very selfish.

I mean don't get me wrong, have a drink every once in a while, but doing shots, and getting trashed.. I just found it annoying...

Am I being weird for thinking this?

No, you're NOT weird! I guess TTC is a very frustuating process and since she has had two M/C, she is stress out. It's OK to have a good time at a party, but getting trashed would do more harm than good. She probably needs help too.

Aww... poor girl. She might be trying to numb the pain. True, it probably isn't going to help her in the long run, but it might be her way of blowing off some steam and she might be in a window that she feels comfortable having a few more drinks than after IUI.

TTC can be so stressful, it was nice of you to listen to all that she has been through.

ITA- I've only been at it 2 cycles and it seems like forever!
