Here is some more info on Grave's Disease. Mary Shomon is considered an expert in the field, although I do not believe she is an MD. There are also great links for anyone who may be hypothyridic as well...

This one deals with pregnancy:

Hi Champagne Clara,

My story is similar to yours; my partner and I planned to start a family so I visited my GP for a preconception checkup.

Turns out that I'm hyperthyroid and CANNOT get pregnant until it's under control. Told that this could be 2 or more years away.

I have started on NeoMercazole and told to go on the pill as NeoMerc crosses the placenta and can cause defects. RIGHT!

Booked in to see an Endcrinologist in four weeks time and have commenced taking the meds.

My sister in law sees a Chinese Herbalist and Doctor. I went and saw her this morning. I went there thinking that I'd like the herbs to compliment the NeoMerc as my family are scientists and I was bought up to believe in modern science rather than Chinese herbs!!

Anyway - long story short is that when I visit the specialist I'm going to ask him how I safely stop taking the NeoMerc as the Chinese Doc just made sense!

So! I've googled Chinese Medicine and Graves Disease and found: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=ch...ient=firefox-a

if the link doesn't work just Google: Chinese Medicine Graves Disease

I'm going to trial the herbs for three months (three times thyroid function tests) to see how my levels improve and once they've improved my partner and I are going to have accupuncture and herbs for fertility.

My Chinese Doctor said that she's had many couples approach her for assistance and that where this is no physical problem such as cancer that she has 100% success rate!

You seem so sad and I was feeling exactly the same way up until yesterday! Not sure which country you're in (I'm in Melbourne, Australia) but I can definitely recommend this! Especially if you're desperate!

Best of luck! Let me know if you're successful!
