Two weeks of no sauna, no hot tub, no wine, no coffee (well, very little coffee )

I'm actually fairly okay with it until the last few days but the title of this thread made me laugh, because that's what it is, torture. And because I'm not telling anyone we're ttc, I appreciate being able to read this forum & see I'm not out of mind for testing days before the test could actually work, just in case.

Do you drink coffee/wine/whatever in the first two weeks of the month, or are you giving it all up during the entire time you're ttc?

I drink coffee, 3 cups a day at most. On the final week I usually I only get my morning coffee and then tea. I don´t drink alcohol when ttcing.

I drink alcohol in moderation, never more than 2 glasses on the weekend. It has been discussed around this and the pregnancy forum that the embryo doesn't draw its nutrient from you until about 6 weeks. By that time you will know you are pregnant and modify any behavior as needed....

I am having an HSG test this week and hope to get pregnant this month. We are going to go on vacation days 22-28 of my cycle, but I am still going to do all the things I would if I wasn't pregnant... kayaking, horsebackriding, massage....

Remember, our parents didn't have such responsive HPTs, they usually had to find out with a blood test at their dr.s office and that was nearing week 6-7.

I quit the coffee because of the high rate of miscarriages among women drinking coffee.

From what I'd read, it looked like a cup a day was safe, and that was what I drank so I thought it was fine, but the doc said that only occasional caffeine, like an espresso after dinner sometimes, was proven safe, that daily coffee drinkers may be losing the embryo before they even know they're pregnant.

So I wasn't so much worried about damage to the fetus as actually conceiving, because you're so right, tabbyco, that in the past things worked out fine. And of course we all have friends who've gotten pregnant, not known it, and continued their normal habits and had perfect babies. On the other hand, maybe I'd be much smarter if only my mom had taken more vitamins

Well, after some weeks of premature worrying about how difficult it might be for us to get pregnant, this is the first 2-week period that I could possibly be pregnant (because of timing)! I think I'm already driving myself nuts - trying to pay special attention to how I'm feeling and all.

The night after I felt really funny in the tummy area - turns out it was gas! And I took a sick day today because I've been feeling really tired and think I might have caught the mild flue. OR maybe I'm just playing mind games with my body and trying to will myself to be pregnant! HAHA! Anyway, it feels better being about to tell you guys about it!

Oh yeah - I'm usually a one-cup-a-day coffee drinker, and now I'm just drinking caffeine-free tea (I had a 'discussion' with my local Peet's people about how caffeine-free is NOT the same as decaf! I couldn't believe the guy was trying to convince me that they're the same! I wrote to Peet's corporate about it - they need to train their staff better!).

Tea is just not the same as coffee for me, though, and I miss it dearly. I'm just trying to be extra vigilant, sort of like training for when I do get pregnant.
