Default OPK's and false positives?

I started the opk's on the 10th day of my cycle after 50 mg of clomid. I continued with the opk's for 7 days without a positive, always taking them in the morning at the same time. (I always wake up to pee in the middle of the night and wonder if that effected my tests. I would find myself having to pee 2 hours before i was to take the test ...I know they say to wait 4 hours since the last time you peed ...it was be so hard to hold it!)
I started a new kit thinking that I was a late ovulator. Well, after reading about testing at night with some good results, I tried it and on the 18th day of my cycle, i tried in the morning-negative and then at 9pm POSITIVE. I was so happy and bd'd that night and the night after!...13 days later tooka an hpt and not pregnant! My doctor said it was a false positive. How is that possible? Oh...and of course no period..so its back to taking progesterone ...just as my pimples were starting to fade! I never have wanted my period to come as much as I do now. Why can't I just do this "naturally" geesh!

anybody out there experience a false positive on the opk?
