I have PCOS so as soon as we decided to get serious about trying I started seeing a Reproductive Encrinologist. On my first visit, they saw I was about to ovulate. That was great news since I only ovulate about 7 times a year. So they told us to try this month so we did but AF came on Sat so no luck.

I just spoke with my doctor and he wants me to start Clomid today, have the HSG test this Friday then possibly get IUI on the 26th. I am excited for another try but I am nervous about the HSG test and side effects of Clomid.

Has anyone here "been there, done that" and can offer some advice?

Don't have the "been there, done that" experience, but I just wanted to say that if you ever need someone to talk to or to blow of steam to, then you can feel free to PM me!

Hoping the best for you

There was a thread on here not too long ago about the HSG test. My personal experience was that it was pretty uncomfortable. Make sure you take a good strong dose of ibuprofen or Alleve before doing it, because it can cause a lot of cramping. I did go back to work afterwards, though. It wasn't horrible.

I haven't taken Clomid in a long time. I don't remember having a lot of problems with it, but I know it makes many people emotional and irritable. I am sure there are people here who have taken it more recently who can give you better info.

Good luck with everything!

Thanks for your responses girls.

I went to the pharmacy after work to pick up the Clomid and my doctor's office hadn't called it in! Ugh. How will this affect my time schedule? I would assume you need to take it a certain number of days until it makes you ovulate? I gotta read up on this med!!

Do not be nervous of Clomid! Absolutely nothing happened to me from them, except that I got pregnant. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

And I'm sure that's not an unwanted side effect

LOL Stern.

Thanks Nola! Hopefully I will be as lucky as you.

I spoke with my doctor's office, they are calling in the med today and I will take it Days 5-9 and stick to the original schedule they gave me. HSG test still scheduled on Fri!

I just got back from the HSG test and it went well. It did hurt but the pain only lasted less than a minute. It just felt like bad cramping. My tubes are clear. On the one tube, the dye went through right away while the tube it took a bit longer....which means it could have been clogged by mucus. Now that the dye went through it could increase my pregnancy chances. Excited!

Been taking Clomid this week (today will be my third day) and no side effects so far........

I did... and so did my sister. I have to say, I got really lucky. My sister did not.... for several years! I have PCOS and was going to a fertility clinic and got very, very lucky!! I am now 10 weeks pregnant!!

My sister, on the other hand, went through a ton over 3 years. She now has beautiful twin girls so it did all work out.

Best of luck to you... I know it is stressful.
