Thank you JennieleTV and NKO!

Rosyposie - I think that most IVF procedures these days are actually ICSI, but still referred to as IVF. With ICSI, the successrate is much higher than IVF as the egg is injected by a technician. I was prescribed Clomid, but since my DH's sperm count was low the Clomid would be no help at all. I don't remember the price difference between the ICSI vs the IVF. I think it was pretty similar, maybe just a little bit more. I'm living in London and we have gone with all private doctors and it's costing us a fortune. My DH has private insurance but it doesn't cover anything related from fertility treatments to childbirth. We just stopped counting all the costs because we think that we are even so lucky to be able to get pregnant!

i learn something new everyday. i never heard of ICSI either.

IVF is very expensive here and in my state it's not covered by insurance, neither is IUI, but IUI is much cheaper...thousands of dollars cheaper.

congratulations, alo6!

Thank you ML2Shop!

We figured that if we had to do 3-4 rounds of IUI with a low success rate, it would be just as much as the IVF and went for the IVF. There was no way we could afford to do both. The whole thing with the treatments is totally a numbers game. You really need to do the research on the clinic before you go. The success rate is very important, but it is also crucial to see how many treatments they have performed. The more they have done, the more accurate the medication dosage will be. It becomes so scientific!

ITA, alo6! it's very scientific and not to mention costly. unfortunately you have no guarantees, but i did have a lot of faith. i went with IUI but had two IUIs done the same day to increase my chances.

Thank you for the well wishes! Tomorrow I go back for a routine ultrasound/blood work to see how my body is reacting to the current doses of fertility hormones. On Monday, I started to produce follicles on my right ovary, but nothing on the left. Let's hope tomorrow is better.

I am starting IVF. I am now on BCP and in two weeks I am starting injectables. can you tell me, ladies, if you did hysterosonogram before going for IVF. In my hospital it's mandatory. And also, did you take antibiotics after eggs retrival?
Oh, God. Does anybody go to UPenn Hospital to do so?
