Default How did I not see this before?

I didn't know we had a TTC forum! :)

A little about me..
I'm Jenn, wifey to Rob and we live in VA. We've been TTC our 1st for 6+ years (started in March 2002). We were dignosed last year with me having low progesterone [where I O not enough to get pregnant or stay pregnant] and my hubby has low sperm count). Right now, we aren't trying that hard, but still can't give up hope for our miracle.

We are waiting for a better insurance to go forward with more testing, etc.

Hey! I'm also in VA. Have you been to a specialist? Highly recommend New Hope Center. They are in Virginia Beach. They just gave me some progesterone for this cycle. Are you currently taking progesterone after you o?

Hi, just found this thread, I am in the "was hoping it would happen but never has category". My wonderful husband and I have been married 7 years and have never done anything to prevent getting pregnant (no birth control at all). DUring this time my stress was out of control, I worked a 80 hour week, 7 days a week most of the time and had horrible eating, sleeping habits and I smoked. I always assumed that was why I never conceived. Now its been 8 months since I stopped smoking, got a new less stressful job and have tried to live a more healthy lifestyle. Still not pregnant..I know I need to go get a medical opinion but where do I start? Do I go get tested or does my hubby go first? This seems to be a very intimidating process and I could really use some pointers on where to begin?

Hello,

Welcome you on board! I will advice you to see an OB first and get more opinions on what to do next. Have you tried taking your temperature or using the ovulation monitors? Those will help some of the couples to detect when you actually ovulate. I don't have much advice for you but what I did was having my body checked first before TTC. I met with my OB and he gave me advices on taking prenatals and have a healthy diet and also do some cardios 3 times per week. After that it just go with the flow, I did take my temperature daily to detect my O days. My DH didn't do much to check on fertility, I think he's fine. It just takes time to conceive. Good luck to you and baby dust to you!

Thank you Bearyt. I did in get checked out by my regular dr right after I quit smoking, his advice was to get regular excersize (i do now) continue to work on healthier eating habits and try to put on 10lbs (80 hrs a week at work surviving on caffeine and cigarettes and 3 hrs sleep a night reeks havoc on your diet so I was a little skinny). I have done all of the things he requested and take vitamins every day. I know it takes time, I'm just worried now that I put the career first for too long and now it's to late...I am 37!! Did you use one of the ovulation predictor test kits? I see them in the store but don't know which one is best? what prenatal vitamins did you use? sorry if I have a million questions but this is the first time I have gotten to ask anyone other than my dr about it. I appreciate any advice greatly..wierd how I can ask strangers for advice but not my friends (who all have beautiful children) it just seems like a subject everyone steers clear of.

Its good that we all ask questions, so don't even worry about it. We're here to help each other out! I did not use any ovulation predictor but I have once used the ovulation test strip. However, I found it more easier if I just take my temperature everyday. I've been taking temps for 3 months now, so I kinda know when my O days are. I guess you can ask some other tpf members about the ovulation kits or do a search under TTC thread, I beleive some bought monitors as well. I first took the Naturemade Prenatal pills, however they are too big for me and I don't like the smell. So my OB prescribed me with another type and its smaller and easier to swallow. I think you should consult your OB to find you the best prenatal pills that is suitable for you. Its great that you are gaining weight and trying to be healthy. I think this is a good start for you! Baby dust to you!

thanks so much BearyT, I totally understand the big pill issue..some of them are like horse pills!! Have an OB appt on 9/2 so I will ask about them at that time ( that and my other 50 thousand questions). Hopefully this will get me started and at least I wont feel soooo overwhelmed.
