Gift suggestions! Pregnant 6 years trying!

I have an old college friend that I just found out was pregnant. Her & her DH have been TTC for at least 6 years that I know of. I haven't kept direct contact with her, but we have mutual friends that live close to her that I do keep in touch with and keep us informed of each others lives. I just got an email from my College roomate that our friend is pregnant and due in Dec. I want to get her a little something special, just to let her know I am so happy for her! Any suggestions?

6 years? That´s amazing, I would have given up already. Since you haven´t been in touch with her, I would suggest just sending a self written congratulations-card, since her taste might have changed.

Since she's due in December I'd first send a nice hand written card and a gift later when she's at least 7 months along or for baby shower. December is still far away and unfortunately anything can happen by then. A friend of mine had miscarriage with no obvious reason (got pregnant with no problems, healthy, taking good care of herself, no miscarriage history in the family, and yet she became 'one of the statistics'); it was heartbreaking especially since nobody even considered such a possibility

I hate to be the one to even mention it to you but that's the reality and seeing it happen made me more cautions...

Oops, I wasn't done yet... On the positive side, when the time for a gift comes, you may want to check Neiman Marcus website. They often have beautiful baby stuff, and when on sale the prices are good too! Same goes for Saks. Of course all depends on your budget plus your friend's taste. Based on my friends' opinions (the ones who already have babies) you can't go wrong with baby outfits but I'd get sth cute yet neutral and in bigger size (6 months) bc most of the time the mommy already has plenty of 0-3M. I hope your colleague has the best pregnancy experience ever; she definitely deserves it after 6 years!

How encouraging that she has been TTC for 6 years and is now successful! And that is so sweet of you to want to get her something. A card of congratulations would be nice but I don't know of a specific gift...Maybe some of the other prego's can chime in with what they would've liked.
