Question Getting in shape and all the things to do *before*

Hello Ladies...

Is anyone else here that is ttc doing extras to get ready...like working out (focusing on abs, thighs etc) along with the usual pre-natal vitamins?

And what else can be done? My goal is to be the healthiest I can be and also to bounce right back to my pre pregnancy body after having a baby.

I have a personal trainer that is aware of this goal and has me eating more proteins, working on those few target areas (lol and keagel's) but I feel like there is more I could do.

Any advice? what are all of you doing or not?

Well, I'm trying to lost the weight that i've gained since we started TTC. My problem isn't working out, it's eating. I love junk food. I'm trying to eat more veggies and fruits. oh, and cutting out soda.

me too.. I'm like wasabipea... I'm trying to loose the weight that I've gained during TTC. I tend to eat a lot during winter and which is when I first started TTC in Jan. So I'm trying to eat less, do more exercise to loose that weight. Oh yeah eat healthy too, Fresh & Easy is my favorite spot for healthy food now. Exercise at least 4 times per week for at least 1.5 to 2 hours. Drink lots of water during the day too! yeah and also taking pre-natal that my doctor prescribed. OTher than that, just wait for it to happen!

I haven't been focusing on losing weight but I focus on being healthy and active. I walk/jog 2 miles every other day, need to increase to 3 miles next week. Play tennis once a week. Do light weights. I have been cutting out sugar substitutes and limit my caffeine. Take pre-natals. Once I am in the 2 week torture then I make sure I am eating healthy and avoid things like sushi.

I did cut-out yoga since I did heated yoga. Every spring and fall I play on a 2-touch coed football team, I won't be able to do that this year

I am new to this so I am sure I am not doing everything I should!

Well, before starting ttc I was on Atkins for over half a year (almost no carbs at all, only few grams a day from couple of cherry tomatoes that I simply couldn't give up); first three weeks were a torture but after that I LOVED IT! I lost almost all the weight that I gained after quitting smoking; even though I wasn't eating more I still put on weight, common side effect, yuck...
Then ttc started and dr forbade the Atkins... and of course I put on some weight again... working on it, again. I got membership to the gym and of course, soon after, they had to close the location closest to me... now I have to drive to the other one... Will I get a break finally! lol

btw - I recently discovered a website that helps you track the diet and make sure you get all the nutrients you need:

http://www.babyfit.com

I quit caffeine; decaf coffee, tea, etc. only.
I just heard that green tea is not recommended; I'm doing research on it now...
Diet Lipton Green Tea was The Drink for me so I'm trying to figure out that one...

I've also been taking vitamins and extra folic for months now...

Other things:

I bought quite a few books and try to educate myself as much as I can. Definitely get "The Pregnancy Bible":

http://www.amazon.com/Pregnancy-Bibl...6443283&sr=8-2

And I subscribed to Pregnancy magazine...

Oh, and shame on me, I buy some baby things from time to time... For GOOD LUCK of course lol

And of course, I chat with lovely ttc ladies on tPF

I don't remember if I recommended this book to you in another post or not...?
That's for before and during ttc.
"Taking Charge of Your Fertility"

http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-...6448466&sr=8-1

Oh, and FOR FUN I also read quite a few mom-lit books

Thanks everyone you are all very helpful. I am a big reader and have read a TON of things. And like you JackieG I also have bought baby things :

I know I need to eat more things. I have though been taking a prenatal vitamin for some time so I am good with the folic acid, calcium and those things. For it is hard to eat right because I am on the road everyday. I am very tiny though so it doesn't make me gain weight. So for me it is trying to eat better on the road and get in really great shape (because it is we all know the more fit you are and the more you walk in labor the easier it can be) I worked in that unit lol

Baby Dust to all of you and keep all those tips coming :)

ive_flipped -> I know, I saw your vote on the other thread... and TG! I felt like an outcast there lol

* Baby Shopping while TTC - do you or don't you? *

I just can't help it and my theory is I'll have to do it sooner or later so I may as well start a little early and take advantage of the best SALES lol...

LOL that is how I look at it too. I really do not believe that it jinks or anything like that. I really have a hard time not buying more.

btw - go to the dentist for a check-up (if you haven't recently); I believe anesthesia is not recommended while pregnant... and personally I can't even think about having anything done without it LOL (and of course they won't do X-rays either)

^^thanks. I go regularly to the dentist and had my x-rays done the last time to check on wisdom teeth. I thank goodness have never needed anything done at the dentist. I so far have managed to go through life without ever having any type of surgery or work on anything lol. I want to keep it that way too ha ha ha. So let's hope if baby does come along baby comes along without any iv's or c-sections lol
