It worked for me and my friends so I feel good about it

I wanted a girl and got a boy, but in the end it didn't really matter. I couldn't imagine having another baby in his stead.

There's a book about it, it's the Shettles method.
I thought it was the other way around. Missionary style is good for a girl.

These methods have to do with a lot more than just position.

http://www.googobits.com/articles/p0...eselected.html

sperm cells can be assigned one of two genders, x/x (female) and x/y (male). It is thought that the x/x sperm lives longer, but x/y sperm swim faster. Therefore, time intercourse accordingly.

The only thing you can do is increase your odds. And some men may have stronger x/x or x/y sperm, which would explain families of nine boys or seven girls.

dh and i wanted a girl first but we are having a boy...we did the 3d sonogram and he looks just like his dad and i know i will love him so much...at the end of the day i guess it doesnt matter just as long as the baby is healthy=) i guess its also nice that the first is a boy so that my lil girl will have a big brother.
we're just excited to have a baby regardless...

Between my two sisters, me and my mom... I'm alittle over all the estrogen and would be delighted to learn about how to handle boys...

I think my husband would be comfortable with a boy, since he only has a brother. But, a little girl would so completely change his world, and his families. It would be so neat to watch.

Guess we can't go wrong either way!

Well, I don't really care. But I would not mind having a boy first because then my daughter would have an older brother, which I always dreamed of myself when I was a little girl. Does that sound weird?

Does anyone have an update for this thread? I just ordered a book about the Shettles method. DH is convinced that an ovulation calendar can determine gender, but I'm skeptical....

I really want a girl. I love girly things. I know we all first and foremost want healthy babies but if I could choose it would be a girl

I'll take whatever I can get right now, LOL!! But I think a boy first would be good. That way if we do not have a second, then my DH will be happy. But if we do have another then the second will have a big brother.

I read somwhere that the ovulation calendar can determine gender also. Since the girl(x/x) sperm swim slower, but live longer if you BD further away from O your chances of having a girl is stronger, and since the boy(x/y) swim faster, but live shorter if you BD closer or on the day you O your chances of having a boy are stronger. I'm guessing the reason this would work is because if you BD about 3-4 days before O(like i did) by the time the egg is released all the boy(x/x) sperm are gone and there are only girl(x/y) sperm left to fertalize the egg. And if you BD the day before or on the day of O since the boy(x/x)sperm swim faster they will reach the egg as soon as its released while the girls(x/y) are left in the dust. I find out what I'm having next Wed. so I will be able to test this theory, and let you ladies know.

Imaprincess07,
I am SOOO jealous that you are finding out next week! They won't let me have another ultrasound until 22 weeks! So I have to wait until September to find out! I'm tooooo impatient!

Congratulations, girls! Can't wait to hear what you're both having! There's a part of me that would want to be surprised, but DH will want to know. DH wants to try for a boy first, so we'll probably start practicing for that in a month or so.
