Default Anyone had Fibroids/Polyps?

I posted this in TTC.. but figured I would try to a larger audience...

I just got back from the Dr. And he thinks we may have found out why I'm not getting pregnant.. 1 of 2 possibilities...
We did an ultrasound because I was close to O time.. and he said I had not O'd yet but my Ovary looked like it would release an egg in the next 3-5 days.. which would make me a REALLY late ovulator! Like 8 days after I was figuring! WOW!

We also found a polyp/fibroid.. not sure yet I need to get another ultrasound to be sure.. but this may be causing the egg/sperm meeting...
anyone else have this?

I was really freaked out at first had a little crying fit when I got to my car.. but after I did some research, I found out they are VERY common, and procedure to remove it, should not affect my chance of getting pregnant...

My Dr. actually told me to continue trying, and act like nothing is wrong.. easy for him to say!

Anyway.. anyone else have any stories?

I had polyps removed and still have 1 fibroid. I had the polyps removed, the gyn said the fibroid was not in any way in a spot near enought to cause me to not get pregnant so she left it.

Go to a damn good doctor. This GYN I had did the surgery too close to when I was suposed to get my period and she CUT me cause she could not see. I still have a scar on my uterus. I never sued but wow, maybe I really should have. I'm still not pregnnat and this was 1 1/2 yrs ago.

I have fibroids currently and I also had them back in 2001 (had the surgery to remove them but them grew back). I was able to get pregnant with my fibroids even though one is really large but not everyone is so lucky. Fibroids can cause miscarriage or pre-term labor so it's there's any way you can have the surgery before you TTC, that would be ideal. My RE allowed me to TTC even with my fibroids because I've already had the very invasive surgery once and having it again could have put my fertility at a very high risk (from scar tissue/damaged fallopian tubes/possible need for hysterectomy once they got inside).

Everyone with fibroids will have a different story it seems, some people live their entire lives with fibroids and never even know it's there and some people are in a lot of pain and have a lot of bleeding.

I had a polyp surgically removed 6 years ago just as a precaution because I was also getting other procedures done at the same time. Then last year my dr found 1 large polyp and several fibroids. It's not unusal for polyps to develop & go away on their own so we just monitored the growth them & let them be. The polyp did go away on it's own. The fibroid tumors seem to stay the same size but then this summer year i found out I was pregnant. The pregnancy made the fibroids grow & caused a miscarriage. My dr referred me to a high risk pregnancy specialist & I was told to have them removed. Last month I had an open myomectomy to remove them. The original ultrasound showed that I had 3 fibroids but they actually found a total of 6. Most dr leave fibroids alone because there's a chance of scar tissue formation which may lessen your chance to getting pregnant. In my case I had to remove otherwise I will continue to miscarry. hth
