I have an appointment on the 10th, so I won't really know more about what our plan will be until after that... but my doctor did mention Clomid if I had future issues when I saw her at my regular appointment in April. (And at that point, it seemed like my body had regulated itself after coming off of bc - but starting the next month it went wonky.) Since June I've stopped having cycles all-together and like the doctor's office said when I called to make the appointment, "It's kind of hard to get pregnant if you're not ovulating!"... so I'm basically preparing myself that we'll be starting Clomid.

Of course the question I have to get answered when I visit on the 10th is... how do you even start it if you're not having cycles at all? (And I don't think I'm pregnant, taken tests, etc. and my has been gradually getting longer & longer from 28 days, to 38 days, to 48 day cycle length, until it's just disappeared.) Anyhow, hopefully I'll get more information after my appointment, but I've been trying to research information in the mean time.

B4B - if your cycles aren't coming by themselves, your doctor can give you Provera to induce your cycle. you take it for a specified # of days (some doctors do 2 pills for 5 days, some do one pill for 10 days), then when you stop it, you get a withdrawal bleed (similar to the Pill)...
your doctor will give you instructions on what to do after that. some want to do monitored clomid cycles (ultrasounds, blood work) while some will just tell you to take the clomid on specific days and then have progesterone levels checked afterward to see if you ovulated.
since i'm going to a fertility specialist, i have to do all the monitoring stuff and a bunch of other stuff to even get them to give me clomid...my OB/GYN gave it to me without any questions, but i'm gonna do the monitored cycles.

Best of luck to you - let us know what happens and what you find out!

Thanks, Dawn! I'll look up information on Provera before my appointment, I just want to be somewhat versed in what they might talk to me about before I go in to make the appointment as effective as possible. I'll check back in after the 10th to see what they find out, it's just the waiting between now and then!

Hi,

I just thought that I would share the latest in my TTC journey.

Had another appointment this morning and I am waiting on LH blood work results. From the sonogram my lining is at 5.38 and they want it at 12 or greater. I have quite of few small Follicles, my largest measuring at 11.26, they want those at 18 or greater. The nurse said not to get discouraged that everybody's cylces are different and that only being day 15 this wasn't uncommon.

Now I am just waiting on the Dr. to call me back with the blood test results but the nurse said more than likely I will go back for another Sonogram in 4 days.

Thanks for letting me share all my little adventures!

Yay! A group that I can join! I went off the pill about a year ago, and after having very light bleeding every 45-60 days got diagnosed with "thin" (because I am thin) pcos. From what I have read, having thin pcos means that my hormones are even more messed up than a regular pcos person and that it will be harder for me to get pregnant. I just started fertility treatments a couple of months ago. I have done two rounds of clomid. One at 50mg days 3-7 and the second round at 100mg days 3-7. I didn't ovulate either round and the second cycle ultrasound at day 15 only showed a couple of 10mm follicles and my lining was only about a 3 (way too thin!!!). I have about a week before I take provera again to induce a period. I am trying 5mg of femara next. If I don't ovulate on that I will be moving on to injectables and/or IVF if it comes to that. I am trying to stay positive. I am young (28), healthy, exercise and eat right and never in a million years thought that this would be my life right now. If anyone ones to chat and/or share this journey feel free to pm me!

I had NO side effects on the clomid, and I was really nervous about taking it due to all of the horror stories that I had read on the web. I was a little more emotional my second cycle, but I am 99% sure that it wasn't because of the drugs!!! So, if anyone is nervous about taking clomid because of side effects, I wouldn't worry about it too much and expect/hope for the best!

Well, I am back on Day 2 of Provera..I had zero response to my first round of Clomid. I was very disapointed but am now going to just work on losing a few more pounds before I start the clomid again.

Iluvhbs: welcome to our little thread. I too have PCOS (although sadly I am not thin) I have been controlling mine with changing my diet (PCOSers both thin and chubby are prone to food allergies.) and have been TTC actively for 2 years and just not preventing for another 2.

i had my HSG done yesterday and am happy to report that my fallopian tubes are a-ok!
i was sooooo nervous going in, and while it was really uncomfortable, it wasn't really painful. the elation of knowing there are no blockages made the discomfort worth it!

now my h just needs the SA to be done and we both need blood tests completed...and then i start clomid next cycle!

Dawn, I am so glad that your HSG test went well.

Yes, they are upping my dosage to 100 mg. I didn't have too many side effects at 50mg so I am hoping I don't have any with the higher dosage.

I have PCOS, so alot of follicles in each ovary. The doctor counted 40 follicles on each side.

They started me on the lowest dose--1 500 mg Clomid pill cut in half. I had to get a pill cutter from the pharmacy to cut one pill in half. I took that for 5 days. Sono showed no growth in follicle size.

So right away they upped my dosage--I'm taking one Clomid a day for 5 days. We'll see if my body reacts to the higher dose.

I'm not really any moodier than normal. I'm a little bit sad that I can't conceive without any medical intervention--but not sadder because of Clomid. I don't feel any side effects.

I've had 2 IUIs and 1 IUI with injectionables, all failed. I've endo so no clomid for me, Dr won't prescribed it at all. IVF scheduled this coming Dec/Jan. I'm doing acupuncture and taking Chinese herbs to help ease my endo so my body will be prepared for the IVF. Will do a follow-up ultrasound this Nov w/ my IVF Dr.

It has been a long, long journey for me. The ups and downs are considered normal. The frustration is a monthly thing like the AF I'm taking it one day at a time.

I, like beejerry, have walked the long road of infertility....

I have done 2 IVF cycles, first attempt was not successful, second was successful :-) I'm 9 weeks pregnant after 2 years of infertility.

If anyone wants to chat about IVF, you can always PM me. IVF can often be very intimidating b/c of the high price tag, but it isn't all that different from medicated IUIs... just one extra step!

Good luck ladies!

Congrats Tabbyco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope I can join you in the pregnancy buddy group soon! I agree that IVF is not much different than IUI. Once I learned how to do the injections, I'm ready to go!
