This is local and all over the news. There are billboards out showing her photo.
I have a really bad feeling about this.... just hope for a happy ending.

A brilliant Yale grad student mysteriously vanished just days before her Long Island wedding -- setting off a desperate search and sparking speculation about whether the petite stunner was the victim of foul play or is a runaway bride.

Annie Marie Le, 24, a doctoral student in pharmacology, disappeared on Tuesday sometime after security cameras spotted her entering a Yale research facility in New Haven, where she often conducts experiments.

The 4-foot-10, 90-pound Le -- whose wedding to Columbia University grad student Jon Widawsky was scheduled for Sunday -- had left behind her purse, cellphone, credit cards and cash in her office, located in another building three blocks away.

"They don't know where Annie is! I got to go!" Widawsky, 24, told his Manhattan roommate, Dory Kramer, after calling Le's roomie when she failed to respond to him online Tuesday night.

"He was on the next train to New Haven," Kramer said of Widawsky, a doctoral candidate in physics. "He was very distraught. He was worried. The timing is terribly cruel.

"She left her desk with nothing. Where is she going to go?" Kramer said, knocking down suggestions that Le disappeared willingly.

"You need a cellphone, your wallet. She's not impulsive. She's very goal-oriented, organized and planned."

Investigators yesterday used bloodhounds to search the Amistad Building, where Le was last seen.

Outside, FBI investigators scoured several large garbage bins for evidence, and also entered Le's New Haven apartment.

Electronic records reveal that Le, who is also specializing in molecular medicine, used her Yale ID card to swipe into the Amistad Building at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

At about 1 p.m., a fire alarm that was accidentally set off led to the building being evacuated.

Yale officials said a check of footage from security cameras has not shown Le leaving the building.

Yale spokesman Tom Conroy said "there's no evidence" of foul play "at this time."

But a friend and fellow student, Xiao Hung, told Fox 5 News that on a prior occasion near the building, Le "had been approached by other people and she managed to get in the car and escape from that incident."

University Vice President and Secretary Linda Lorimer told the Yale Daily News that authorities spoke with Widawsky, who was back in New Haven after collecting some belongings from his Morningside Heights apartment on Wednesday.

Lorimer said "there's not a worry about" Widawsky being involved in her disappearance.

The Huntington, LI, native met Le, who was raised in Placerville, Calif., when they were undergraduates at the University of Rochester. They were to be wed at the North Ritz Club in Syosset.

"The idea that she's a runaway bride seems extremely unlikely," Kramer said. "She liked to talk about the wedding . . . She was really excited about the wedding."

I hope that she just got cold feet and panicked about the wedding and nothing bad happened to her.

i was hoping so too, but she left everything behind. i agree with shanam...bad feelings with this one. how incredibly sad.

Especially since she left without her stuff

I heard this on the news too. I really hope she is okay. I was disturbed to hear she had a prior incident. The footage of her leaving the building was shown and she really didn't have anything but some scrubs on. Doesn't seem likely that she ran away. Hoping for her safe return.

She sounds like a smart woman who wouldn't just disappear if she wanted to cancel her wedding. Sadly this doesn't sound good to me either.

First thing that pops into my mind is runaway bride, but that is more because it is sad/scary to think that anything else could be involved in this. Hoping for her safe return
