I think they ought to be able to tell whether the tape was applied before or after death (or maybe I've watched too many CSI-type shows); at least I hope so. While, unfortunately, Casey claiming that might generate reasonable doubt in some people's minds, the overall look of things (from the outside, as I realize none of us have all the evidence and/or statements) really points to the fact that she wanted that child gone and would have had no problem achieving that end herself.

She could have left the child at home. She had her grandparents right there. She could have given the child to foster care or let her mother take custody (if the grandmother would have wanted to). There were so many other options than to play roulette with a small child's life or to kill a small child for the sake of her party lifestyle. I hope that her lies and lack of remorse lead jurors to the correct conclusion (that she is a sociopath and should not be allowed into society again).
I agree. I hope she gets life in prison. Death would be too good.

Couldn't they match dental records of the upper teeth? Have they confirmed the DNA testing yet?

Caylee's Grandparents 'Devastated' as Investigators Find More Bones

Monday, December 15, 2008
foxnews.com/images/foxnews_story.gif

Investigators found a trail of bones over the weekend in a wooded area near the Orlando home of missing child Caylee Anthony and expanded their search zone as the FBI worked to identify a skull discovered there last week.
The new bones were located in an area less than a half-mile from the home the young child shared with her mother and grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, and a lawyer for the couple said the family was preparing for the worst.
"They're devastated," Brad Conway told MyFOXOrlando.com. "They're trying to deal with this the best they can. They're realistic about the probability that it's Caylee, but they pray it's not."
Orange County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed more bones were discovered at the site over the weekend as investigators sifted through soil on the scene.

The Anthonys returned to their home and through their lawyer asked for privacy Monday until the medical examiner is able to identify the remains.
Conway told the station that investigators searching the Anthonys' home in the wake of the skull discovery "tore it apart."
The Anthonys attended a church service Sunday and met privately with their pastor at the Eastside Baptist Church, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

...Orange County Sheriff's deputies, agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and FBI experts have converged on the vacant property to comb it for clues.
Sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla said Sunday that the thick undergrowth has made for slow searching.
"They're being very tedious and very methodical," he said.
Padilla would not say what, if any, other pieces of evidence were found during the search.
...
Although DNA results on the remains probably won't be released for several days, authorities and even Anthony's own attorneys are treating the find as if it is Caylee.
"We're going to have our experts all reviewing everything from top to bottom," her attorney Jose Baez told MyFOXOrlando.com. "Unfortunately, due to the time that's elapsed and our inability to be able to observe what's being done, there's no telling what the scene is going to look like when we get it or what it was like beforehand."...

Someone said they should do this, but nothing more has been said about the dental records since then. Maybe she never took her kid to the dentist...

DNA evidence awaits, but signs point to child's ID

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Evidence mounted Friday that a child's skull discovered near Caylee Anthony's home belonged to the missing toddler, although investigators cautioned it could be a week or more before they have conclusive DNA evidence.

Thanks for the update Karmen. So I wonder--how did the skull get separated from the body if these bones were located in a different place..?

Apparently so. They've been saying that the bag with the bones was under water at some point and had been moved by the water. If the guy who peed or pooped near the bag is telling the truth about the skull "falling" out of the bag, then other bones would've fallen, too, and would be scattered in that area. If the guy found and opened a tied up/sealed bag, then I don't see why all of the bones wouldn't be in the same place.

I said it went this story was first reported....they will not find this child alive. That mother KNOWs she killed her child, and the fact she didn't report the child missing for so long, she was just trying to cover her tracks. She needs to be under the jail.

I watched a lot of the jail video recording of Casey talking to her parents. She avoids looking at the camera so her mother can see her eyes, she is vague when asked specifics about the nanny's apartment and where she thinks Caylee its (is: lets just leave it at that), she changes the subject (I already talked to Lee about that), and it seems like every time Caylee is directly mentioned she turns the topic to herself.
More now that ever before my opinion stands that the parents knew their daughter had done something terrible but are in denial out of not knowing how else to deal with it.

It would depend on how bouyant the bones were. I would think that smaller bones would be the first to go since there is so little skin over them and if the bag was open. Also, if Casey was searching "Neck Breaking" then the head could have easily been detatched once the remains started to decompose. I am thinking they are small bones since it was taken them a while to find them.

I don't think it sounded like the guy opened the bag. It sounded like it was open and when he picked it up by one side the skull rolled out. I really don't think it could have been planted. If it is another child I will eat my foot.
