Angry Killer Mom Plays Horrible Guessing Game
This is so sad and horrible!! and the father of her baby should be found guilty of something because he let her drive drunk!!!!

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/b...6pBha5aab0Fe7L

A Bronx mom accused of killing one kid and injuring another six in a drunken car crash on the Upper West Side repeatedly taunted the children in the minutes before the crash with a sick "guessing game," prosecutors said yesterday.
As Carmen Huertas drunkenly hurtled down the Henry Hudson Parkway in a car jammed with seven kids -- including her daughter -- she mocked their fears of her drunken weaving on the road, Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau said.
"En route, Huertas repeatedly engaged in a guessing game with the children, asking them to raise their hands if they thought they would make it home without crashing, or whether they thought the car would crash on the highway," the DA said.
Morgenthau revealed the chilling details when he announced that Huertas had been indicted on a slew of criminal charges, including vehicular manslaughter, for the horrific crash that killed 11-year-old Leandra Rosado.
Rosado's family had been hoping for charges that could put Huertas away for life, and Morgenthau said he sympathized.
"In a case like this, no sentence could be too tough," he said, but, "the law is the law."
The DA gave a chilling account of the hell ride.
He said Huertas had invited six of her daughter's school-aged friends over to her home for a weekend sleepover.
On Saturday night, however, she loaded the kids and her 14-month old son into her Mercury Sable station wagon to take them to a party for a relative in Chelsea.
The mom started boozing at the bash, "drinking alcohol, including cognac," Morgenthau said.
When she loaded the kids back into her car at 12:30 a.m., the father of her son tried to convince her not to drive.
When she "dismissed his concerns," he took the toddler out of the car, but did not "make efforts to remove any of the other children," the DA said.
Investigators believe Huertas was going 68 mph in a 50-mph zone when she lost control of the car. Three of the kids, including Rosado, were ejected in the crash.
"Huertas crawled from the vehicle and removed her daughter" while the other kids crawled out on their own. One of the victims remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Huertas, who's on suicide watch and still hospitalized with a shoulder injury, is expected to be arraigned on the charges next month. Her lawyer did not return a call for comment.

omg! those poor children. This tragedy could have been avoided if only the father of her son had taken her keys and refused to let her drive.

That is insane. What was the woman thinking, obviously not about the children's safety. If the father thought it was dangerous enough to take his son out you would think he could have taken her keys or called the police on her. I feel so bad for the kids because of what they had to sit through. This woman should go to jail for a long time.

What is really going on with this world!! This man knew his wife should not drive and just saved his own baby and left the rest of the kids with this crazy drunk woman??? It sounds to me like, ok, I will save my own child and screw with other children!!!! This is exactly why I think some people shouldn't breed!!!! They are the adults but yet show no responsibilities. I hope she gets punish darn hard....REALLY

Absolutly horrific & tragic. Parents send their kids to a sleep over and trust another parent with their kids. So she gets loaded and drives? Now i know why my parents never liked me being driven by my friends parents when i was younger. You can't trust nobody with your kids. Its just like that drunk & high mother that killed herself, her daughter, her neices, & three men. She killed all of her brother's kids. Its the worst thing ever.

I hope that woman never sees the light of day. Lock her in a cell and throw away the key. And what a pathetic excuse for a man. He would be better off breaking her legs in a fight over the car keys then letting her drive drunk. How could he be so selfish to pull his kid out of the car but not protect the other children from harm? Here in Toronto, if someone leaves your house drunk & gets into an accident, the home owner can be charged for allowing them to drink & drive.

Not only should the woman be locked up, but how could the husband and others at the party let her leave? They KNEW how much she had been drinking; they are accessories at the very least.

The second she took off in the car he should have been on the phone dialing 911, telling them about a drunk driver on the road.

I don't understand people. The only question I have is "why?"

She deserves to sit in jail and rot away for the rest of her life. People like this do not deserve freedom. The fact that she put CHILDREN and complete strangers at risk because she is a raging drunk makes me so angry!

what is with all of these women.

Just saw this on the news of another woman driving drunk with children in the car leaving a family party. I do not understand why people don't take their keys. How they can allow these women to drive off with kids in the car.

http://www.justnews.com/news/21430098/detail.html

A South Florida woman remained in jail Tuesday after she was found asleep and smelling of alcohol in a running SUV with three children inside, according to Homestead police.
Police said neighbors reported seeing an SUV parked with the engine running for more than an hour on Saturday near Northwest 11th Street and Sixth Avenue with children inside.
When officers arrived after 1 a.m. Saturday, they said, they found 24-year-old Joanne Martinez asleep in the second-row seat of the Ford Expedition. Three children, ages 4, 6 and 7, were in the car, police said.
"There were three children inside that were crying and saying they were hungry," said Capt. Ed Bowe of the Homestead Police Department.
The police report said Martinez was unaware of her surroundings, unaware that she had pulled over and unaware that police were at the scene. Thirty minutes after officers arrived, Martinez finally was alert enough to give them some information.
"They attempted to wake her up and eventually got her awake and I believe she even vomited at one point in time. She appeared highly intoxicated," Bowe said. "She said she was at some type of a party involving some family and had been drinking some tequila and whatever else. She said she was tired and her head hurt and she pulled off on the side of the road and proceeded to lay down in the second seat, the back seat of the vehicle."
Officers eventually asked her for information to contact her mother, who came to pick up the children.
Martinez was arrested on a child neglect charge. She was due back in court Tuesday and may face additional charges.
