Wow I am so furious about this! I wonder what their parents think of this?

It is really terrifying to witness that kids are (1) so capable of being so mean over literally "nothing" and (2) that there seems to be no forethought as to such violent acts. No concern of consequence. They just REACT.... and then ACT.
That poor little boy....

They're lucky they're in the U.S., where they won't be set on fire as punishment, which is what they deserve (IMO)...kids or no kids...

i just hope the defense lines that they are too young to know right from wrong or that they sufferd from ADHD,bad childhood, colour blindness or their parents didn't gave them a puppy for XMAS won't be used. it is chilling to think that kids the same age as my son can be capable of such callous and cruel behaviour...over a f%^& 40 bucks!
and so many young lives wasted...what is going on?

totally agree, that is def. what they deserve

this story just makes me furious, and what really bothers me is that FIVE boys did this... it would be disturbing enough for one kid to set another boy on fire but there were 5 of them, how does that even happen?? You would think one of them would have enough sense/morals/compassion/etc. to realize what an evil thing this would be to do to someone, but no... very scary.

This makes me very, very sad. I'm studying to become a nurse, and I'm sure I would be truly heartbroken if I were to see the aftermath of this if I were in the ER. It seems as if everyone can be truly evil if they want to be . I hope he makes a full recovery.

No kidding. I think they deserved to be set on fire just so perhaps they could show some remorse for what they did.

it had to be planned as well...they used alcohol as an accelerant and one had a lighter. why are young boys walking around with alcohol and a lighter on them??

they should be charged as adults. they commit an adult crime...they should pay for it like an adult.

It's despicable what these kids have done! The reaction of some of the teens laughing about it just make this even sicker. It's apparent they think this is some kind of joke. I hope the judicial system does not go easy on them. They should be tried as adults.

SO sad. Imagine if there was no pool! He probably would have died. But what makes it even more sad is he's still going to suffer. He's going to feel so much pain and have scars.

All those boys should at least have there fingers dipped in alcohol and set on fire, and see how much pain JUST there fingers might feel, and then think how bad it would be if there WHOLE body was set on fire.

I am speechless. I never thought ONE COULD BE THAT BAD! But fact in life make me realize that. THEY SHOULD BE PUT TO JAIL. Is there death sentence in Florida? Well, my country do, and I think they deserve that. I think even if Brewer survives, things will NEVER gonna be the same again. And the offenders ain't at the least bit of rumorse.

exactly. these sort of actions are beyond repair IMO. i mean, how messed up do you have to be to do something like this?? i mean, yeah there's tons of cold-blooded murders every day, but this--setting a child on fire..over a $40 video game?? seriously...

this whole situation is horrible, i hope the boy makes a full recovery. i can't imagine what his family must be going through.
