what does Elizabeth's mother have to say about this whole ordeal?
to believe that your daughter ran away or was kidnapped. only to find out that she was raped repeatedly by her own father and bore many children!! what does her mother have to say about this, is the question. How does she feel? what is going through her mind? she must feel like the biggest sucker in the world to believe that man's lies. what kind of sick individual would have sex with his own daughter? he must be very sick in the head. and it amazes me that he is still living and breathing. what a predator. |

Josef Fritzl incest case: Paparazzo hurts guard
By Andreas Sam in Vienna Last updated: 8:38 PM BST 19/05/2008 Security officers guarding the clinic where the family of Josef Fritzl are being treated will only patrol in teams of two and a police dog after a guard was severely injured by a paparazzo photographer and had to be treated in hospital. The photographer, who was trying to get into the building where the family are being cared for, allegedly beat up the security officer, 30, with a heavy club and managed to escape without being identified. The injured guard, who was not named, works for a private security firm that was hired to protect the clinic. He was taken to a hospital where he is being treated for head, neck and shoulder injuries. The assault was the latest in a series of violent incidents involving reporters and photographers clashing with hospital personnel and guards in a bid to penetrate the security around the hospital and get a picture of the Fritzl family. Josef Fritzl, 73, an electrical engineer and property developer, is facing a string of charges including manslaughter, rape, incest and kidnapping after he confessed to having imprisoned his daughter Elisabeth and keeping her as a sex slave in a purpose-built dungeon beneath his home for 24 years. He repeatedly raped her and fathered seven children with her. One of the children, a baby boy called Michael, died shortly after birth and Fritzl hurled his body into an incinerator. The Fritzl family, including Josef Fritzl's wife Rosemarie, 68, her daughter Elisabeth, 42, as well as her children Stefan, 18, Lisa, 15, Monika, 14, Alexander, 12 and Felix, five, are said to be in a good condition and recovering faster than expected. The condition of Elisabeth's oldest child, Kerstin, 19, is also reportedly improving but she is still being kept in an artificial coma following a multiple organ failure due to a mysterious illness. Following the attack on the security guard, Helmut Krenn, manager of the Amstetten-Mauer psychiatric clinic where the family have been treated since April 27, said: "As of now, security personnel will only go on patrol in teams of two people and they will be supported by dogs." Last week, another photographer managed to climb on to the third-floor balcony next to the room where the Fritzl family are being kept, but a screaming nurse alerted security who managed to apprehend the man following a short struggle. One of the security officers was injured after he fell from the balcony. Story from Telegraph News: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...res-guard.html |

Fritzl lad so happy McDonald's is real By BRIAN FLYNN and NEIL SYSON in Amstetten, Austria Published: 19 May 2008 CELLAR boy Felix Fritzl was thrilled to discover McDonald’s was REAL – after being taken on a secret trip there. The six-year-old – freed from incest dad Josef Fritzl’s dungeon – was told ads he saw on TV for the burger giant were fiction. A source said after the youngster tucked into his first Happy Meal: “He loved it.” Psychiatric nurses gave Felix sunglasses to shield his eyes after his life underground. Yesterday mum Elisabeth, 42 – the daughter who rapist Fritzl, 73, caged for 24 years in Amstetten, Austria – and Felix’s cellar brother Stefan, 18, were making “real progress” at a clinic. Sister Kerstin, 19 – in a coma – showed signs of recovery. Elisabeth is set to tell of her ordeal in a TV interview next week. |

^That is good the young boy is doing ok.
Hopefully this will die down after awhile so they can live normal lives. I imagine she would be set for life with all the deals. The paparazzi are crazy!!! And after she does her interview, they should all back off and let them live their lives. About the mother, I would hope she didn't know!!! I can't fathom (no matter what the circumstances even if he threatened her) that a sane mom would sit back and watch her own child get so badly victimized. A mom's instinct is protection. I would hope she would give her life for her own child! Being afraid is no excuse. |

I don't think the vitims should be doing interviews with the media...that's just inviting more problems...

...Does anyone know if the interview with Elisabeth will be re-broadcast in the States? I admire her bravery for agreeing to do it. I certainly hope they interview her in silhouette to protect her privacy.
Prayers to the family for continued healing... |

Cellar beast Josef Fritzl is now a broken man who cries himself to sleep at night, prison sources claimed yesterday. AdvertisementWhen the world first learned of his twisted crimes, it was further shocked by his cold, unrepentant attitude. But now, in an outpouring of remorse, all he talks about is seeing his family so he can apologise - and make sure they are all well. Fritzl, 73, is said to be in a deep depression. He refuses to leave his cell for his hour a day of fresh air and exercise and is wasting away. A source at St Poelten jail in Austria said: "Fritzl's mood has changed dramatically in the past three weeks.
"When he first arrived he was arrogant and unrepentant. But he's now a broken man. He cries all through the night and has lost a lot of weight - he's wasting away. "Despite everything that's happened, Fritzl wants to see Elisabeth and the children and his wife Rosemarie. "He told his legal team, 'I want to see my family to explain things and find out how they are, I am worried about them'. It's ironic a man who kept his family trapped in a cellar so long is now suddenly concerned for them." They added that Fritzl has had just one visitor in jail, an unknown family friend. Elisabeth - imprisoned by her father for 24 years while he repeatedly raped her, fathering seven children - has already said she never wants to see his face again. It also emerged yesterday police want to interview her to firm up murder charges against Fritzl, but she's still too ill. Officers believe her father could be responsible for the death of Elisabeth's newborn son Michael. In an eight-page initial statement, Elisabeth said she had given birth to twins Michael and Alexander alone and by the time Fritzl visited three days later, Michael was dead. Fritzl burned the body in an incinerator and Alexander was raised above ground. Police still do not have enough information to decide if the fact he deprived Elisabeth and her baby of medical attention constitutes murder. Meanwhile, claims that Elisabeth is due to give an exclusive TV interview in Austria were rubbished by the family's lawyer. Dr Christoph Herbst said: "It would seem strange to be interviewed by the media when even the police have not been able to speak to her yet. "At this stage, there are no such plans whatsoever. A TV appearance by Elisabeth Fritzl is not planned at all." |

I'm watching The Secrets of the Ausrtrian Cellar on C4 and they've just said that although they have no reason to suspect Rosemarie that she is not in a fit state to be interviewed. I can't believe this, surely right from the start she would had to have been a suspect? Have they interviewed her at all?
This program also said that Fritzl showed home videos of the above ground children to the basement ones so they knew they had brothers and sisters living above them... |

I am looking forward to watching the interview. Hopefully it will also be broadcast at the same time as the ORF broadcast will be shown. If not, I have to go to a friends' house since ORF is a pay channel.

I will be posting some new updates below. Sorry for the delay- I've been really busy and my ISP had an intermittant outtage going for about 12 hours late yesterday and early today. Elisabeth is giving an interview on Monday with the german-speaking press. I *think* the UK TV networks should be carrying it with subtitles in English. I will be on the lookout for video that can be linked here. If anyone else sees anything (especially UKers) if you could post something here, that would be great.
