The funds to start up these labels come from somewhere. I don't know the name of the company, or person I think its an individual, but my SA at Luna Boston was telling me about it. I'm pretty sure its the same company/person that help launch Kate Spade. Feel free to call one of them for the actually story, sorry it was a year or so ago I had this conversation and my memory isnt the best.

Not trying to be picky here, but it is a stretch to say that these two companies are related only because they share the same investor. These are not like Gap/BR/ON where Gap Inc controls all three brands and designs. Many private investors invest in different companies across the industry and that certainly does NOT mean all those companies are related.

I have to agree with pigalle too, as that investor could easily just be, say, some private individual who likes to support small independent American designers. The companies aren't actually run by whoever this start-up investor is, so, really, there's no actual relation between the two companies just because they may share an investor.

No, this is not true. I also know that RM has investors that are close to her such as family and friends that I really don't think have anything to do with Treesje.

It's funny because where I live, I've NEVER seen anyone else with a Treesje bag. With that money, most people just buy Coach instead, since it's the obvious brand name. There's one department store and one boutique that sells it, but the boutique is GROSSLY overpriced (my Vienna was over $800CDN there! Which I got on BlueFly for $300US)

I'm new to this brand but have been lurking for a while now admiring the bags the gals here have posted. I had never seen or heard of Treesje before TPF. I am waiting for my first Treesje, a gray Marley to arrive. I was reading and posted in the thread about the mini gray Marley reveal so I was concerned about mine arriving in perfect condition. I sent an email to Treesje and Nataly replied right away assuring me of the quality of my new bag. I'm really happy with the great customer service addressing my concern.

Hi Girls! Just reading through your thread and wanted to address thiss. Treesje is an organically grown company with absolutely no investors. Sheila and Laura started the company from the bottom up, each contributing $1000, and brought it to where it is today. We are not affiliated with any other companies or designers. Sheila and Laura are personally friends with Rebecca Minkoff, however not related companies at all.

After reading this I am even more in love with Treesje!! I am not surprised - just look at all of the attention to detail. You can tell these bags were designed by true bag carrying women!!

Thanks Treesje!! Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for clearing it up. I always try to support independent, albeit small, American brands rather than gigantic Italian/French fashion houses. What an amazing story!

Wow, didn't know the back story behind the start up of this brand, but consider me a new convert. I only recently discovered Treesje but I will certainly keep my eyes on the brand now that I am a proud owner of the Marley (from Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale). Thanks for the information!

I love to support small businesses that work hard to supply a quality product at a reasonable price. These bags certainly aren't generic designs, the detail is amazing and they use such beautiful leathers. I first saw this brand in a high end store here along with Pradas, choos, BVs, and mui mui. I kept coming back to the ashers that they had. Of all the bags in the store those bags caught my eye. The quality of the leather was just so touchable. I think that a lot of people gravitate to what they know and think is popular. Since these bags aren't saturated in the marketplace they don't have that high of visibility yet. Hopefully they will continue to gain popularity. You just have to see one and touch one in person to understand.
