If so, this is my sign to you Icelanders! I'm calling out to you and I want to meet you!
I know there is a PFer from Reykjavik, I can visualize her avatar but can´t remember her name, If I find out I´ll PM you.

Also for taxes from what I understood, danish and even more norvegians are really protective of their system, so the customs are really tough ! I had friends who got packages from USA, and every single time the customs stopped it and made them pay a absolute fortune ! I guess they want to stop the population from buying abroad since the taxes/prices are so much higher in Scandinavia than anywhere else I can think of. 1 time I even had to pay a fee on an extra box of cigarettes I had bought in France (where the taxes are already high) !

So what should be the program for that meeting ??
I would be happy just to meet up in a café and chat and get to know each other ! Café Norden is yummy for the capuccinos and waiters, but really busy.
And I shall go shopping but just browsing I guess bc I will be going back to Paris in march and in april, so spending all my money there !!! (since it´s much cheaper than DK)

that would be icechick you're talking about

how many cigarettes did you have? you'd have to have enough for them not to believe it was for personal use if you travel within the eu

actually it was 5 years ago so the law has changed since, and so the prices it´s now more expensive in france than DK....it was when DK was part of Europe but outside the "Shengen commission", so we were allowed to only 2 boxes and we had 3.....blah. Like I needed a work permit at that time that I don´t need anymore. But everytime I fly back to DK you have the customs carefully checking us even it´s a flight from Paris, so I don´t exactly know where to stand but I prefer to avoid any trouble !!

Ouch. The norwegian customs might be nazis when it comes too fees etc, but if they're in a good mood, they might say "OK, you had four cartons when you're only allowed to have two, but I'll see the other way and you can take the two cartons you're allowed to have" etc etc, and it's always so funny when they do that, because it's always unexpected.
I've never noticed customs in Kastrup, but I guess they think that the norwegians who will bring large quantities of alcohol and cigarettes take the boat instead, and ditto on the way back - I've never seen less custom officers than when I come home from denmark by plane

I'm pretty sure that you can get items under (the limit is 6000NOK aded up) 6000 NOK into norway taxless without paying any additional taxes, I know a friends of mine did this. The rules in norwegian are here if anyone is interested ^_^

Alas, you won't get many purses at that price, but on accessoires and some clothes, some shoes and even sunglasses you can save a lot.

In norwegian

In english
and even
Im deutsch (lol)

If you have been outside Norway for less than 24 hours you may once within these 24 hours bring with you goods representing a total values of NOK 3000 free of customs and excise duties. This does not include alcohol or tobacco products unless you can prove that these have been purchased with at a price including tax (not duty free) in an EEA country.

Yup, that's true, but if I'm doing the right thing and saving like a hero these next month, I'm hoping to take a bit more than 6000 and therefore take goods worth more than 6000 home However, I do believe that customs care most about people who takes too much alcohol and cigarettes over the border than your average Paris Hilton-wannabe (not that I am, but on the edge there) with luxury items. And if they do, I guess I'll just have to fess up and pay

Ah now I get it! I can shop for more than 6000, but only claim taxes based on those 6000? Maybe I will, that is probably a chunck of money there too..

I would ask for the clear rules regarding that matter -and if you can get tax back from DK, but then have to declare what you have...- or else just don´t declare anything ! put things in your suitcase, or wear it. When you wear it there is nothing they can do. Talk about wearing all designers at once, you´ll be a label whore in the plane !! I wouldn´t worry about it.

^ Done that before, it felt kinda emberassing (I'm a one label at the time-girl), but they didn't stop me, so I guess it was for the good. I'll definately have a good look at customs regulations again, because if I can get anything at all back, it's worth it (taxes off of 6000 is a couple of dvd's or other fun stuff)

aah i see.. but now you should have no trouble at all, i wouldn't worry. i've never seen anyone with a green line on their baggage tag (for intra-eu flights) get searched. i got stopped at customs in london once as token blonde, they asked me what i had in my bag except my clothes and toiletries and i said a couple of books and then they let me go. yup, that was quite the terrifying experience
