aw, i would love to go to the four seasons for lunch, if other people are up for it. but i can understand if it's a bit pricey, and we want to save all our money up for shopping. i could do tao - i'm really game for anything, but i think it'd be more fun to pick a restaurant than byo brunch. my 2 cents.

again, thanks so much for organizing this, jenskar!

I'm going to research the Four Seasons high tea thing a bit more. In the past I've split the "high" part of the tea (small sandwiches, scones, desserts -- it's all finger food) with another person and just ordered an extra beverage, but it's been awhile and I can't remember the price or hours they serve it.

I typed that sentence about lunch/Tao etc badly. Prix fixe lunch at Tao is 25 without tax/tip. Lunch at the Four Seasons would be at least that if not more. Shared tea should be less but I want to make sure. The beauty of the shared tea (or prix fixe lunch) is everyone knows the cost ahead of time (unless people want to order wine or drinks), we don't have as much "split the check" craziness at the end.

I'm starting a list of everyone who has posted, even if you said you didn't think you could come, and that way if your plans change I can get you the info.

We have a day, Sunday, August 12th, are finalizing time and meeting place, lunch/tea first or not. I think a few people mentioned maybe meeting before that for an evening/drinks -- but that's separate. So glad so many people are interested in coming !! This will be fun.

19 People have expressed interest in coming -- 3 others have timing conflicts. Of the 19 it sounds like at least 10 are pretty definite. I'm assuming this will keep changing until a week or so before as people have loose plans over the summer and things happen.

Okay -- tea update at the Four Seasons -- doesn't start till 2 on Sunday and the price did go up to $46 each. That's a pot of tea, scones, and a choice of 6 finger sandwiches or sweet cakes. And Tao doesn't do lunch on Sunday.

So -- I've been searching and Brasserie 8 1/2 has a $27 buffet brunch and they're at 9 W 57th

Fred's at Barneys is open 11 - 6 on Sunday -- Minnie maybe you know prices there.

There are a few more, a place started by the chef from Aquavit called Riingo but that's down at 45th St.

I just want everyone to feel comfortable. Let's face it, best brunch spots in downtown/SoHo/meat packing district.

So let me know what you all think and we'll pick a place. I'm going to PM everyone too but post your responses here so we can get a consensus, k?

This from Minnie:

Fred's prices are about $30 lunch w/o alcoholic beverages !! Brasserie 8 1/2 has great food!! I would do either or. Fred's is a very nice scene with elegant woman wearing great designer bags!! I think it depends on how many woman go, BRASSERIE is amazing though I really won't complain. I do agree the best brunch is downtown but it might be very inconvenient going back and forth.
Let me know what everyone else says. Thanks

And Jill said (paraphrasing, the copy/paste thing doesn't work well with multiple messages):

Maybe Barney's is easier ?? But she's ok with whatever.
