^^ Really? I like the Holts here, it has the Tiffany (which is amazing, it's one good thing inside another good thing) and it's nice and compact so it doesn't take seven years to get through the whole store. All of the SAs I've encountered have been really pleasant and polite even though I don't really buy any big ticket items right now since I'm at school and on a budget (gag, what a dirty word).

See it's good that you say that because the SAs have always been what keeps me away from places like that - I'm afraid they'll be like uhh get outtttt haha. I find I get judged constantly because I'm young/a student most places I go... Which is ridiculous because little do they know I have a full-time government job at 17 and can afford to splurge on occasion.

But yesss we definitely need to get the Ottawa members together! Why are there so few of us!? Sigh.

I just moved to Ottawa about a month ago. I`m currently suffering from shopping deprivation since I can`t find any of my favourite stores (i've been busy with school, so haven't had a chance to tour the city much).

Where abouts is the holts store?

What school are you at? I believe Holts is on Spark Street, I forget what the cross street is though... It's only a few blocks away from Ottawa U if you're going there

What are your favourite stores? Maybe we can help.

I do go to Ottawa U. I actually live off of elgin street, so sparks street is not far at all. thanks for the info!

in terms of the stores i frequent,
gucci and LV for bags.
for clothes, i usually prefer marciano, bebe, mendo.
I'm pretty sure there's no bebe here (i got addicted to it from living in toronto). Are there any areas in ottawa that generally have the more high-end stores?

I think i noticed a few weeks ago that there was a marciano opening in the rideau centre. so that's at least a start!

Honestly Ottawa is kind of high and dry for the more high-end stuff There is a Marciano opening at Rideau, which is exciting... I think they're slowly trying to get more designer stores in there (Lucky, Lacoste, Coach are all recent/upcoming additions). I usually end up doing my shopping in Montreal. For random perusal and generally just seeing what I stumble across, I like to shop in the Sussex Drive area. There are some neat/older boutiques.

Ottawa is like a small city in a big city's body in a lot of ways... The political culture is great, but it definitely doesn't have the ammenities of somewhere like TO or Mtl.

I agree on the SA's here being very nice @ Holts - I've even made a friend out of one. I've never been even remotely intimidated by the Holts here. (Although I do not intimidate easily, lol)

Holts is at the corner of Kent & Queen in the 240 Sparks Street mall (Cheapest underground parking in all of Ottawa BTW!) The selection is slim, & I miss that from TO (I grew up & lived in Toronto until I was 22), but I honestly do find whatever I'm looking for here, and if they don't have it, the find it for me - & quick!

I used to hate Ottawa when I moved here - it had all the problems of a big city (traffic, etc) but the accessibility of a small town, however after living here for 8 years & going to Montreal & Toronto on shopping trips, I've come to actually prefer Ottawa (!!! I can't believe I'm saying that, LOL)

We definitely need a meet up :)

BTW, some of the more fun clothing shops are on Sussex, or in the Market.

I totally agree....and I was just in Montreal last week and got my shopping fix.

I do know a lot of people at the Holts here and I have made a few friends, specially in clothing. I just don't like shopping downstairs becuase they have way too many people working....when I like to look around I want to be left alone and not looked at whether I bought or not!

ok so now lets do a meet before it gets too cold here in Ottawa!!!

When is a good time for everyone? and where?
I am thinking of a Saturday for lunch and a visit to Holts maybe?!

Try Trust Fund on Sussex Drive and Schad. The market also has lots of little boutiques that stock more expensive clothes... I've found stuff by Karl Lagerfeld just wandering around.

I don't think you can even get LV in Ottawa, and Holts has a slim Gucci selection.

No LV, but Ottawa Holts has a better Gucci selection than Montreal IME (in bags at least). They don't keep everything out, so if your looking for something - ask.

My schedule is pretty open, since 'm currently on mat leave. I'd like to avoid Friday morning & evenings.

Hi Ottawa friends.....

I wanted to let you know about a new consignment store that just opened up on Richmond Road for higher end and designer brands...Incidentally I'll be working with them as the designer and brand name specialist.

www.rikochetresale.com

Drop by anytime, but I am in on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings.

ANYONE UP FOR A MEET?????
