I have 2, both AP teachers in junior year of HS. Mr. Yanko for European history- so smart and freaking hilarious- he would act out scenes from our book for us . . . like the one where Napolean crowns psychs out the pope and crowns himself. You had to be there. Most of the class ended up with 5s on the exam, or at least 4 out of 5. Mr. Koroli for AP Bio- again, hilarious, made everything in class very memorable, and we all came out knowing loads more than we did going in (arguably more than most intro level bio classes in college).

My fav teacher has to be my grade 12 Mathe teacher Mr. Haijdu. He was the one that taught me understanding something is more important than getting good grades..and that turned out to be really really important to me and led me into grad school.

Mrs. Soltendieck .... not my favourite teacher by a long shot, but her insistance on proper grammar and understanding it made me realize its importance both to English and to learning new languages (although I think I came to her class too late for it to make any immediate impact!)

My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. McCracken, told me that if I didn't become a writer I was wasting my "god given talent". I've remembered her words with every article or poem I've submitted, and now that I'm working on a book, her words are even more meaningful.

My most influential teacher was Mrs. Fisher in 8th grade. She told me that she loved my writing. I knew I loved to write, but I wasn't sure of myself, and didn't know I was good at it. She pulled me aside one day and told me I was really talented. She is the reason I am going to school to be an English teacher!

My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Patterson, made me decide to become a teacher myself, and if I can inspire my students in the way that she has inspired me, then I am continuing a wonderful legacy.

Mrs. Patterson did a unit of study on science fiction writing, and I wrote a story entitled, "Mr. Superior, Man of Tomorrow!". I thought it was absolutely brilliant, and I was confident that I would soon become a successful young adult writer. When the papers were returned, there was a short note on top from Mrs. Patterson. It said, "I loved your story. Let's meet and talk about the use of quotation marks", because I had written pages and pagesof dialogue without one quotation mark!

Mrs. Patterson made you feel that you could accomplish anything you wanted, and it's because of her that I tell my students daily, "Dazzle me with your brilliance." (By the way- I have taught special education for 27 years!)

My favorite and most influential teacher was Mr. Kenneth Brady, a Mathematics Professor. He was and is a very kind, helpful, caring, and extremely bright person! He helped increase my love for math!

I think I would have to say Mrs. Huxhold. She is who got me to go after my goal of being in graphic design, and who got me where I am today. We didn't get along a lot because her ideas of art and mine didn't quite jive, but I never got the chance to tell her that I made it in this field because of her. She died of cancer 3 days before our meeting. She taught all the way up to the end.

Miss Davies from the 3rd grade. She helped me thru getting bullied at school, and gave me a reason to keep going.

I had a History teacher in High School who taught history as if it was just a long story. He made the subject interesting and somehow managed to make it relevant to 15 year olds in the 80s. It really taught me a whole new way to look at History-no longer was it so dry and boring. It became exciting to look at it as a story.

I am a teacher in training and if I ever teach History, I know just how I'll go about it

Mr. Paseltiner for AP Bio in 12th grade. The man was amazing! He truly loved what he did. I think he was even around when my dad was in high school! Our class got to spend a week at Fire Island on an environmental field trip, which was a lot of fun!

Mrs. Burns- my art teacher. She pushed me to reach my potential and helped me believe in myself. Even though I don't do much artwork now, I always have found memories of her. I even get to see her from time to time because she is a close friend of my friend's mother!! (how's that sound for confusing!)

sensei ige. she was my japanese teacher 10-12 grade. pushed us to do well and pretty strict. i was really glad i paid attention in class, especially when i was in japan for a while. came in handy. i've tried to find her to thank her all these years later, but i can't find her, and she's gotten married and maybe retired since then. so, sensei, if you're a pfer and reading this, thank you for being a great teacher at Castle High School...Kaneohe, Hawaii!!

My school years are a blur, but I still remember my first-fifth grades teacher's smile, Mrs. LaCorte and my Italian teacher in grades 6-8 Ms. Ciccone. Loved them.
