I have the same problem~ I've been buying loads of bags since I've been back to school, and not all of them are my favorite. I'm just going to sell them back when I get home for Thanksgiving or such so I can earn back my much-needed $$$~
It's hard to think about selling some of the ones I wanna put up, but I also have bigger bags in the print of the little one... so it's not like I'm missing much~ |

It sounds like some people are having problems with "mental accounting." We think, "I spent X on this bag, so I must get X back." But what you really need to be thinking is this, "I spent X on this bag, and I don't like it. I really want that other bag that costs Z. How much is it worth it to me to get rid of a bag I never use, and get a bag that I really want?"
You have to think of it from the business sense. Let's I own a factory. I buy a machine that makes widgets for $150K, but because I don't like the quality of the widgets it turns out, I mothball it and don't use it. I spent that 150K and I got nothing but a machine collecting dust. But if I sell that machine to someone else for $125K (because it's a used widget machine now), then I can use that 125K to buy a different machine that makes widgets that I like. In the end, my cost for the new machine was 150K (because I paid 125K for it, and I *lost* 25K on the other machine), but it doesn't matter because now I'm making GREAT widgets! ![]() Now substitute Toki bags for widget-making machines. |

Nice math analogy, lisalala! Ahhh math.
![]() Hey dj, another thought is that you could hold onto the bags if you don't need the capital right away, and hope that the prices will skyrocket after the collab ends, so you can get your money back and more. Kinda like how the LAMB/LSS collab prices on eBay went up after it ended, for up to a year...refer to this thread: LAMB for LeSportsac & tokidoki for LeSportsac value? I dunno though, it's all up to you in how fast you want to get rid of things vs. how much you want to speculate.

lisalala, were you an econ major?? This brings back college memories of suffering through ECON 101 and 102... lots of sample questions involving factories that make widgets

Hahahaha. No I wasn't an Econ major, but I'm in a profession that values market-driven outcomes, so I tend to conceptualize things that way.

I also hate ebay but have sold a member of bags on it. I sold the bags I didnt love and luckily for me most of them were below retail what I paid. But I do what lisalala said. I sell my bags to have money for more bags. For example I sold my Inferno Gioco for a lot more then retail, and I felt horrible doing it but I did it so I could buy an Inferno Zucca that was also on ebay. But I do hate those ebay and paypal fees... They suck..

Maybe you should hold onto the bags until the collab is over so you can sell them for a bigger profit~ If there isn't any change in the sales amounts of the bags once the collab is over, you can still sell them for what you expected to get them for today - and then buy ones you like, too~

I have 3 bags listed fir sale on Ebay right now and I have such mixed feelings - I almost don't want them to sell. LOL. I figure I'll wait and see if they do sell and it not keep them for a while.

For me, I'm selling my bags because I want a smaller collection of bags that I actually use... so it's not to get money for other bags or anything, so I have patience to sell at the "right price"... Good luck to everyone else who's trying to get rid of some items for whatever reason!!

The thing is that there aren't really a lot of places where I live to get bargains on Tokis - as I posted in another thread, Macy's East seems never to put them on sale. So when I see something on sale, even if it's not something I want, I grab it, because then I can "trade" it for something I really want. I don't even transfer the money from my Paypal account to my bank account. I just let it sit there because I know I'll spend it when the perfect bag comes along.
Edited to add: if I lived in California, I probably wouldn't do eBay selling or buying of Tokis. |

omg i have the exact same problem! i bid on random things on ebay xD but afterwards i'm like...."i didn't really want this..." and it's hard to resell it and get all your money back, cause either it won't sell or you'll lose ebay/paypal fees ;__; i've sorta gained some willpower though, i've decided i won't get anything unless it's a tutti luna xDD haha *crosses fingers* hoping to find one that's under retail~

I find what i do is sell the stuff because i "need" the money and then go hunting and find stuff i want and justify it by saying it's ok i have paypal money like its not real money
