Some of them could be pretty convincing if you're new to it and don't catch some of the details.

Isn't that the site where people's photos had been stolen from eBay?

OK so.... I went to Capital Ex (big exhibition, used to be called Klondike Days) in Edmonton yesterday and browsed the shops they have set up every year... bought some of my favourite Nellie's all natural laundry soap & some dryer balls... then my mom wanted a magnetic bracelet so we came across this booth selling the bracelets and, oddly, selling painted hermit crabs among other things... and I ended up buying the following FAKE Tokidoki for LeSportsac bag...

I think on some level I knew they were probably fake. I remembered seeing the one design they had there awhile ago on the LeSportsac website and really liking it, but seeing the pirate pattern I fell in love with that even more than the other.... I asked the guy how much, he said $35 but then later said "oops it was supposed to be $40 but I already said $35 so I'll give it to you for that" (HAH! oh brother) I'm only a bit familiar with LeSportsac from the bags Gwen Stefani designed for them (I have 3) so I think it was partly that I wasn't looking for the signs that it was for sure real... and partly I was a bit in denial because I loved the design so much and it was only $35! I didn't realize until AFTER I bought it that the LeSportsac logos are UPSIDE DOWN.... The guy gave me his card as they have a store in West Edmonton Mall... I should have held off and researched it online a bit FIRST (like I just did) and I would have not ended up buying it at all... now I'm wondering if I would be able to go back and bitch at them return it or if I should report them...but I don't know to whom. If I do return it, I could use the excuse that the logos are upside down if they don't buy that I didn't believe it was a fake hah... I am going back to Capital Ex on Tuesday to see Joan Jett & the Blackhearts (woohoo!) so I could try returning it then rather than going to the store. So anywho just beware of the following store I guess... and please don't flame me for being stupid... I do already feel kind of guilty but I think I am going to buy a REAL one off eBay as I can't stand the cuteness, I love em :)

Hmm... or you could bring a photo of the actual authentic version of the bag, noting the following to the seller:

--The lining is supposed to be turquoise, not light warm grey,
--The zipper is a "random" ordered rainbow color with MUCH larger teeth with a black surrounding fabric, not a small rainbow zipper with a white surrounding fabric,
--The Lesportsac logos should not be upside down, but also they should be gold and not yellow,
--The chain is completely off,
--No leather straps, tags, qee that I see, and
--What bag style is this supposed to be replicating, anyway? Mamma Mia? Buon Viaggio?

I'm sure there's probably more errors on the bag, as I am not the most knowedgeable in this realm by any means =), but the bottom line in my book is that if they sold it to you claiming it was an authentic Tokidoki Lesportspac, you are justified in contacting them and requesting your money back, reporting them, etc.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply Sera :) I know, I have no idea what style it is supposed to be either - I tried to find even a similar looking one and failed. It is such a bad ripoff I was almost embarrassed to share it on here haha I think I will bring it back on Tuesday and demand my $ back!

hm...it looks like a combination of BV style and Nvoula. I think the best way to tell is by the color. Its really a bit darker on the fake ones.

Check out this fake, $20 at Ardene stores in Canada. It's about the size of a Stellina. They (poorly) tried to fake the rainbow zipper, and they did an original print in black. WTF? I have already sent photos to fraud@tokidoki.

You don't report her, you email fraud@tokidoki.it with the auction number and they will end it pronto. Unfortunately eBay rarely pulls auctions of fakes unless it's high end luxury goods like LV.

Read this article: http://www.tokidoki.it/fakes/

Excerpts:

Currently tokidoki is locating factories in China and Thailand that create fake tokidoki products. If you know of a factory that is producing illegal and unauthorized tokidoki product and report it to us, tokidoki will provide sizable rewards for the identification and prosecution of certain large scale operations. All reports will remain anonymous.

("sizable rewards"! There funds for you to go on a toki bag buying spree!)

Q: How can I help police tokidoki on eBay?
A: its simple: just email in the item numbers of eBay auctions that you suspect are fakes and we have ebay end them IMMEDIATELY!
Q: I want to report a counterfeiter. Who should I contact?
A: Please email fraud@tokidoki.it. Provide as many details as you can, including the name and address of the seller or store, what items they are selling, and whether we may contact you for further information on the case. We promise to follow up every report of fraud both in the United States and all other countries!
