Congrats Cosmopolitan on your new bag! I love the Pashmy! I came THIS close to getting the large version cause I wanted a bag that I could put my laptop in, but I'd just gotten a YSL bag and I felt guilty. I'm hoping that it goes on sale soon so I can justify it.

Just for reference, the updated version has matte leather handles (not patent) and the metal is a muted goldy silvery color - very gorgeous.

clu0984, the Chicago Tod's store had the plum a few weeks ago. Ask for Claire - she's so sweet and very helpful.

Thanks maedchen! I've seen a pic of the new version, and I dunno, I kind of like the patent leather and blingy hardware on the original version a bit more. That's what makes the bag look special and different from other nylon totes, IMO. I DO like those with the exotic trim, though!

for those of you who have the messenger style, is it too big for an everyday bag?is it more of a travel/tote bag? i have seen different sizes of this bag depending on the store...is it super lite weight?

I have the messenger, you can see it on the first page of this thread. It is a great size, it is 16W x 15H X 3D. I use mine on wet days and to travel because I have a 2 year old and it's easy to throw the bag over my body and have both hands free. It is very very light weight. I was able to stuff it full of wallet, iPaq, checkbook, 5 passports, sunglasses, reading glasses, a book and snacks for 3 kids!!!! It got a bit heavy but since it was across my body it felt very comfortable. My 2yr old spilled orange juice on it on the plane and the juice rolled right off!!!! No stains!!! THis is exactly why I got this bag.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with this bag and it looks GREAT!
I don't think the messenger comes in any other size. They did have a tote early 2007 but you could not wear it across the body and it was a bit smaller, I had it but I sold it b/c it was too small. Here is a picture of it. It looks huge but that is b/c that is my 9 yr old holding it.

Oh forgot to say, the messenger is adjustable. You can wear it 2 different lenghts. If you look on page one of this thread, there is a picture of Cameron Diaz wearing the messenger, that is full extended. I wear mine across the body on either lenght but prefer the shorter.

Cheers,

Just wanted to say, I got caught in a major ice/rain storm earlier tonight, and my nylon Tod's bag got real wet on the outside, but everything was nice and dry inside. And it all looks good as new now. I highly recommend it. I'm thinking about buying another one in a different color, maybe the hobo style...

Cosmopolitan, thank you for sharing!!! :) It's gorgeous. I'm in the market for a nice nylon bag still and your reviews are very convincing... :)

Now I really want one of these for a diaper bag. Which size should I get? Should I get the large one like in the Sienna Miller ads, or would the smaller one be big enough - or should I get the one with the drawstring top?

For a diapar bag, I would recommend the Luna nylon bag by TODS. You can wear the Luna across the body (the Media), strap is adjustable; so your hands are free for baby, toddler, child. I have a toddler and my Messenger is so handy! The one with the draw string is the 'd' bag in nylon, you cannot wear that one across the body, only shoulder and hand. Hope that helps.

I'm bumping this thread because....I bought a Pashmy messenger from Bergdorf's yesterday! I actually didn't know much about these bags, and I am pleasantly suprised by all the good reviews!

I purchased the same smokey grey color as LT Bag Lady. It's a really pretty color -- almost brownish purple in some lights. I bought it specifically to have as a backup for all those rainy days.

Cosmopolitan - I think you and I have very similar tastes when it comes to bags. Like you, I was getting tired of using my Longchamp totes for rainy days. They have become so ubiquitous in DC, which isn't a bad thing, but I did not want to look like everyone else. I hadn't given much thought to Tod's in general, and loved the way they were being displayed at BG.
