Default G bag
i'm new to tod's and was eyeing this bag for the longest time but was just never comfortable with the open top.

but heck, the leather is too gorgeous so i have decided to try and lay my hands on one :)

anyone seen this around or know if it's still available at stores? what's the retail price and is there a smaller size? picture from ebay but not authenticated :)

This bag is the victim of Celebrity, what do I mean by that? Julia Roberts, Jennifer Gardner and some others were toting her around all over the place, and she has sold out! You can call around to NM and Saks, they might have one around, or try eBay, there was one listed recently...

The open top is not a problem for me, I keep my arm down on it and since it is deep, it would be difficult for someone to reach in.

Bag is beautiful and I love mine, I have the coated canvas.

Good luck, hope you find one!

Whoo!! I just tried that last week and would have put my money down on that one but I just put a huge tab on my plastic and didn't have the credit limit for it.

I'm waiting for the sale and then I'm gonna score it! The SA has agreed to let me know when they're down to the last piece.

Forgot to add that I saw it for Singapore Dollars $1830 in Singapore. Depending on which part of the world you're from, maybe the exchange rate differences can be a nice boost.

Just a very random point to note:

Because of the leather, this bag is actually alot heavier than other bags of its size. So definitely not something you wanna be dragging around if you plan on being on the go.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't retail for US$1700 but I'm not based in the US so correct me if I'm wrong. I just saw it at the Singapore boutque for S$1800 (approx US$1400). I'm sure it's cheaper in the US without all the additional freight and tax costs. For the small difference, I would pick up a brand new one at a store.

Actually, tods price is cheaper in sg as compared to us. I done a comparison before. So if any one coming to sg, head to the boutique! U will even get a 7% gst rebate. :)

That's really interesting. Do you know why it's cheaper in Singapore compared to US? I've mostly purchased them in USD.

Not sure abt that. Will ask my SA when I next go down. But I been to Malaysia n Thailand, both are more expensive as well , after converting back to sgd and before my membership disc. So far, uk is the cheapest that I know of.

wow, i'm glad it's not as expensive as i thought it would be yay!

were prices in singapore reduced? the last time i check it was around $2k. but lower prices are always welcomed hehe.

my dilemma now is which bag to choose - the leather or coated canvas. so many choices! i have been happily surfing the net and forums looking at the colours available

Leather was definitely at S$1800. I tried both the leather and coated canvas but thought the leather looked alot better on me. I didn't like the 'weight' of the bag but otherwise looked a whole lot better on me.

(Sorry, hit the send button by accident!)

You should try both and get an opinion.

I generally like non-shiny/reflective material for my stuff that's prob why I really dislike the coated canvas stuff but I must be in a minority seeing how many of those i've seen around lately!

Keep us posted on your decision!

am definitely going to the boutique to try the styles - and then wait for the sales :) hopefully this style will be on sale.

i'm leaning towards the coated canvas with a zip though - more practical, just what i had in mind for everyday use. but i need to look at it in real life first. any idea how much the coated canvas is? i read somewhere here that it's around 300pounds
