A couple of things have held me back from being very interested in the D-bag. One is no outside pocket. The other is the older D-bags had open tops. I believe the new ones have a zipper?
I did see a woman carrying an older D-bag at it looked quite nice....it was a kind of buff or camel color and she had tan skin...looked great on her....got me thinking. But: For those of you who have open-top bags, doesn't it bother you? Do you just feel when you're carrying it you keep it secure under your arm or whatever? What about when you set it down? thanks |

I prefer open top bags because I like to be able to get into the bag while it is on my shoulder... I also do not like the zippers tearing at my wallets.
Do I feel secure? Depends..., in NYC, I tend to wrap my arm tightly over my d-bags, actually try to avoid an open top bag when I am in a crowded place... The Piccola is easier to keep secure, the grande..., well that is a bit of a challenge. I do like the look of the new ones and the zipper does make them more secure. The d-bags do have 2 large zippered compartments inside for wallet and other items you might want to keep more secure. The Miky has always been my TODS fav because of the outside pockets. I wish the g-bag had an outside pocket or a cell phone pocket. HTHs, update us on what you conclude. Cheers |

Thanks Isabel. I agree Miky is as functional as can be with the two outside open pockets plus the two zip pockets...also soft and comfortable to carry.
I don't know if D-bag would work for me. The new ones look beautiful in the magazines. I haven't seen IRL yet. I know what you mean about wanting to be able to reach into your bag. I keep my zipper bags open sometimes for that reason; but I like the idea of being able to zip them up when I want to. D-bag is probably no for me but your never know...someday if I see one for a good price in a color I love... |

I'm really glad you asked this, SD. I bought a D-Bag in Neiman last weekend, and promptly ordered another (different color) from the Cabazon Outlet. My intent was to return the Neiman one, but I am debating keeping both. I haven't got the Cabazon one yet, and haven't used the Neiman, so both are returnable, and the question I keep rolling around in my head is how do you keep things from falling out? Is this not a problem for your D-Bag owners?

Yes, Kathy...the things falling out could be an issue if the bag tipped over. The thing that I was thinking about is if you're out somewhere and you set it down, e.g., in a restaurant on the chair next to you. I think it would bother me that it could tip over or it would be easy for someone to reach into.
I can see when you're carrying it if it fits on your shoulder, it would be secure that way. If I were you, I'd try carrying one before I committed to a second. These are very nice bags but what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others. I'd be interested in hearing what you decide. |

For others thinking about the D-bag, I will note that the new ones have a snap closure. |

Kathy, I'm sure that camel bag is beautiful. I thought the new season ones had a zip top? Is the one you're keeping an open top?
I know all the outlet stores are final sales. I hate final sales but they have some great deals. Enjoy your new bag and post back as to how it's functioning for you. |

I have the older D-bag, bought it May 2007, since I'm using the VIP pouch, (the hand bag organizer). Easy when you change your hand bag frequently. So I really don't mind the open top and lack of inside compartment, it makes it easier for me to retrieve stuff. I'm not so concern of pick pocket, the bag is snug under my armpit, and I just put my valuable like phone and wallet in the zipper compartment.

I use various cosmetic and other zip top bags to hold my items when I use my open top bags and find that this helps me feel more secure.

I also own an "old" D-bag, with "open top" and I never had any problem with it. To start with, it is quite structured, so even if you put it down on the floor it does not plop open, then when I am carrying it (usually on my shoulder) there is no way somebody standing next to me (on public transport) can put a hand inside, first of all because I am quite tall :-) (quite difficult to reach inside) and second because of the structure - it stays close even without a zipper.
I rarely (almost never) put a bag on the floor, I have a bag hook for restaurants and similar situations and at the office I have a drawer big enough to fit it (or my closet). So even if I know that many people have doubts about "open bags" I never had problems with them, whereas my purse was stolen from a messenger bag with flap (it dropped lower and was more easily reached) and it was almost stolen from a bag with outside pockets and zippers ..... |

You've given me food for thought. I still think my preference would be more toward something like Miky or T-bag which has zip top and outside pockets. But if I see one of the D-bags in a color I like, I'll probably give it some thought. Last time I was at the outlet they had one for a good price but it was a bright green...not a color I would want.
Thanks ladies. |

I'm debating taking it to a cobbler to have a snap put on it, but am hesitating because I have always been afraid of altering a designer bag. Has anyone tried this? |

Sorry you're not totally loving your new bag Kathy. I don't know if I'd trust a cobbler with this but maybe someone else has some more useful info to share.

My D-bag is older with the open top but it doesn't gape open like some totes. It stands up on a flat surface. Really it hasn't been an issue for me.
A magnetic closure would be ideal--I'll have to look closer at the new D-bags. |
