Why did they use YKK zippers on Vintage gucci bags..anybody know?

  1. i Just started to collect vintage Gucci bags, and i was wodering if anybody knows why they used YKK zippers on the vintage gucci doctor speedy and boston bags.

  2. Every little component on a bag has to have a different machine designed and made to make them KWIM

Many bag designer/makers/manufacturers used the best component parts they could get their hands on with out having to buy in the specialist costly equipment including Gucci, Chanel and Hermes. It's not secret and no big deal, YKK made fine and strong zips.

    Hope this helps

  3. YKK group is a great japanese zipper company, they produce zippers for countless brands..Louis Vuitton used YKK before too

  4. whats the material for YKK?....

i seem to have seen jackets with that same brand?

  5. Is it just me or does anyone else notice a big difference in the zippers they use now compared to back then?

The zipper on some of my newer Bostons and D GOld Hobo are not as glide-friendly as say, my Blondie (which I think was YKK).

  6. ^I don't have any vintage bags but the zippers work smoothly on my bags. They don't get caught or anything.
