ok i got the stain out. i tried only water but it didn't work. so i put a teeny tiny dab of woolite on a qtip and rubbed it in with the other side so i didn't use that much detergent. then i used a wash cloth that was a little wet to rinse it off and kept patting it. then i dried it with a blow dryer on low. the stain is out and i checked and checked and no water stain. so crisis averted i think....

You shouldn't see any dye on the towel. The modern scarves don't really run, not even the dark colors. Now the scarves from the 60's and earlier are more problematic.

Does handwashing the scarves take out the crispness? I love the way they come from the store crisp and new. I know some people prefer a softer drape though. But this is why I never handwash other than I know I'd be terrible at it. Is this a myth, or truth?

Me too Sophie...I am a keep the folds-in-girl...the only way I can do this is spot cleaning... and the ocassional trip to the DC with instruction NOT TO PRESS....
