too 90s?

Wow, many many thanks to all the helpful responses - it gave me JUST the clarification I needed.

Namely, the ever-pleasant, "well, if YOU like them"... for some things I love (ratted 60s hair and Stella McCartney bags, for example) I'm willing to buck general opinion, but I've come to the conclusion those boots aren't in that category.

As I "age" (I'm only 29, but still) I have a terrible fear of falling prey to the trap I've noticed among many older women; somehow winding up looking like the decade of their youth, even when they are trying to stay stylish. I think you just gravitate to those items that remind you of your first impressions of "fashion" no matter what.

I will probably end up an aging 50 yr old riot grrl anyways, oblivious in my babydoll dresses with black tights and chunky shoes.

But for now, I will fight the good fight, and hold out for a worthier pair of boots!
