  1. Handbags valued at $20,000 stolen from Santana Row's Gucci store

    San Jose police are investigating the theft of as much as $20,000 worth of designer handbags from the Gucci store at Santana Row.
    According to San Jose Police Department spokeswoman Gina Tepoorten, an unshaven black male, described as being in his early to mid 20s, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds entered the store at approximately 11:30 a.m.
    `He sprayed some type of chemical in the air, possibly pepper spray,'' Tepoorten said.
    The suspect then made off with nine handbags valued at between $18,000 to $20,000. he was last seen fleeing in a light blue, newer model Acura, according to Tepoorten.

  3. This is the first I've heard of in SJ but I've heard about this happening in other places. I was just at the store last Saturday so I'm kinda thinking which bags the robber could have taken to cost that much. :roflmfao: It's so easy to do this kind of thing there though. The bags are on open displays.

  5. Wow, news like really makes me stop and realize how ridiculously high the prices for bags have become!! It's amazing how they have joined the ranks of jewelry stores and banks as targets for robberies!!
  6. Apparently, this Gucci store had been hit by thieves before. I was told that twice before, people would come in groups and ask to see different bags. Then, because of all the craziness, someone from the group will walk out of the store with a loot! Despite security right by the door!
