The "One laptop for every child" program- please read!

  1. This made national news a few weeks ago and I signed up for email updates. I think this is an incredible program for kids and also can benefit you and your child. And is a tax write off! Totally legit program and it will do wonderful things!

[IMG] [IMG] [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You are receiving this email because you requested a reminder from One Laptop per Child about our limited-time "Give One Get One" program. Starting Monday, November 12 at 6:00am EST, you will be able to donate one XO laptop to a child in the developing world and also receive a laptop for the child in your life, by visiting or calling toll-free 1-877-70-LAPTOP. [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"Give One Get One" is the only time we are making the revolutionary XO laptop available to the public. For a donation of just $399 ($200 of which is tax-deductable), you will be giving the gift of education. Additionally, T-Mobile is offering donors one year of complimentary access to T-Mobile HotSpot locations throughout the United States, which can be used from any Wi-Fi-capable device, including the XO laptop. [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]We will send you another email when the program begins on November 12. Until then, thank you for your interest in OLPC. 2. I think that is a fantastic ideas!! and kids these days know so much more about computers!
  3. Wow! What a great idea!
  4. Hooray! My fiancee and I have been supporting this program. I'm so glad to see it has made it into the public eye. It's such a great way to educate children while at the same time promoting community and teamwork!
  5. I'm sorry but... I don't see why children need laptops. I really would like another opinion on this because for most things I can see another side to the argument, but I really can't see it in this case (sorry!). In my city one of the worst schools is the one that asks all children to have compulsory laptops. Some basic knowledge of word and researching on the internet is required, but laptops for their sole use are just too much. My child cousin has his own laptop... I caught him watching porn the other day. He's 10. I know people talk about parental supervision and stuff but I think if you have the time to supervise every moment your child is on the laptop, then you have time to sit down and do proper maths and reading with them out of actual books.
