Personally, I think you're right here, though I'm sure many members of the forum use their Cities at night. For me, it's more of a day bag.
I think either the Purse or Twiggy would be great and would hold what you need. Why don't you take the coat you're going to be wearing to a store that sells them and try both styles. At least then you'll know which you prefer for this occasion...then all you have to do is decide on a color, which is a separate decision.
