smokey bag - how much $$ off??

  1. Hi gals,

I have a bag to sell but it belonged to a smoker. how much do you normally take off the price 10% 25%.

The bag would probably go for about $2,000 if it wasn't for the smoke smell.
    What do you think?

  2. Have you tried some of the funky smell rid methods first?

  3. I think that I would try to get rid of the smell before selling it. You are just asking for trouble selling a stinky bag. I know that I have read several "tricks" on ridding the nasty smells here on tPF, so maybe do a search, see what comes up and go from there.

  4. I would not sell it without getting rid of the smell first. I think you're risking your reputation as a seller. Even if you declare it in your auction, it's still kind of risky because smell is very subjective. Just my opinion..

  5. I agree-you'll scare off ALOT of buyers. I've used vanilla bag candies from lovin my bags before and they worked great!

  6. I would make use of a professional dry cleaner - but would also mention this in the item description.:okay:

  7. I would just do my best to get rid of as much smell as possible then sell the bag with full disclosure. Maybe a smoker won't mind the smell and will buy the bag. You are going to get less for it but at least you are being honest about the condition.

  8. I just disclose it in my auctions. It does greatly affect the amount of $$$ you will get for the bag. Make it clear that the bag is for a smoker.
