Should I spray a protective coat over my new purse?

I just got a new Beverly and Speedy and was wondering if it is a good idea to spay a protectant (stain or water resistant) spray over the leather which could possibly protect the leather from turning really dark.

I know you'll get a variety of positive responses for treating the bags but IMO, they don't need to be treated. The vachetta WILL still turn, just at a slower rate than they would if they weren't treated.
I've never treated any of my bags and wouldn't suggest it as my SA always says that they won't fix bags if they're treated since it's seen as an "alteration."
