Victoria Beckham goes house hunting in Bel-Air, January 14

David Beckham's decision to move stateside may have had less to do with to do with playing soccer and more to do with finding his son Romeo the best epilepsy treatment in the world.

David - who last week agreed a whopping $250 million deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club (yeah, it exists) - has apparently been planning to move to the US for months because the world's leading experts in the illness are based in Los Angeles.

A source reveals: "The main reason for the move is Romeo. They are desperate to find a way to control his epilepsy and have been doing their research. The best place to get the medical attention he needs is Los Angeles - they even carry out high-tech, experimental surgery to try and control the condition."

David and wifey Victoria reportedly told friends they would move "to the ends of the earth" to get the best care for the four-year-old.

  2. EW. She's wearing that fug jacket again.

  3. I think she looks nice. I could really care less about them, but I think that if they are really doing this for their son, they are some awesome human beings.

  4. I LOVE her outfit!!!

  5. Althought I'm not a big fan of that fur jacket she's wearing, I like her outfit and I definitely love her shoes. If they're really moving there for their kid then it's best reason they can have.

  6. I love her boots. I wonder what house they will decide on

    More scoop !

The former Spice Girl has been busily arranging two lavish parties to introduce the Beckhams to California's showbusiness elite.
The first will be a British-themed affair where their new A-list friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will be guests of honour and Jennifer Lopez will perform.

Gordon Ramsay will prepare roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, to be served by butlers at the £500,000 soiree.
Guests will be treated - if that is the right word - to Victoria's five dress changes on the evening 'to maximise publicity'.

While she will provide a voice-over to a video of the couple's life explaining - to perhaps a rather bemused audience - exactly who they are.
Security will of course be tight. Victoria plans to dress guards as Beefeaters, though how that idea will be received in the southern Californian heat remains to be seen.
Victoria has been location scouting at the fashionable Sunset Tower, Bel Air Hotel and Ramsay's soon-to-open LA Hotel, all off Sunset Strip in Beverly Hills.
She is calling on Peregrine Armstrong-Jones - the organiser of her wedding and their Full Length and Fabulous Party - to help out.
Victoria had been hoping to coincide this first party with awards season, though that has apparently caused some annoyance with David.
The Academy Awards fall in a little over a month - on February 25th - and he might conceivably still be tied to Real Madrid then and is concerned that he should fulfil his commitments in Spain before being seen to be starting his new life in America.

Mrs Beckham has also been planning a second party to introduce herself to, or perhaps check out the competition from, the LA Galaxy WAGs.
A friend spoke of Victoria's concerns over how few Americans even know who The Beckhams are.

The friend said: 'At the moment, American audiences think Victoria was just one of the Spice Girls, a quirky little British band which broke up a few years back, and most recently she's just been one of Katie Holmes's new friends.
That really is the height of Victoria's celebrity in LA.

'America, remember, is pretty insular when it comes to its showbusiness stars. Meanwhile, soccer - as they call it - is far from the most popular sport.
'Victoria's mind has been buzzing with ideas for these two parties. She is pulling in favours from Tom and Katie to get some big film names in, her manager Simon Fuller to get some TV names there, and friends like J-Lo and P Diddy to get some music industry people.

'She has even been talking about doing a duet with J-Lo, which has - it must be said - been met with some derision.'
The friend added that the party will be a good opportunity to push Brand Beckham to their new Hollywood friends.
'And of course there will be a goody bag for all the guests to take home in which there will be tickets to one of David's first games with LA Galaxy, vouchers for items from their new range of clothes and interior designs, plus his and hers Intimately Beckham fragrances.

'There will also be copies of Victoria's new style bible.'
But it is at Victoria's Galaxy WAGS party where she will have to tread most carefully.
A friend explained: 'This will be a meet and greet - without the husbands and boyfriends. Victoria will be basically auditioning which WAG she will anoint as her new little best friend. She will also be judging which ones she has to keep an eye on too.'
Victoria is currently in Los Angeles meeting estate agents and looking for schools for their three boys.
She is looking for a home in Beverly Hills and also - it has emerged - a second ranch in Santa Barbara or the Napa Valley wine-making region.
'She also wants to get the boys into riding. She loves that whole cowboy look and in the past she and David have gone out wearing chaps.
'A lot of this sounds a little crazy, but that is the state of Victoria's mind at the moment - she is just firing off ideas, totally energised with the whole idea of Hollywood and the opportunities open to them,' a friend said.
And she has also been getting some interesting tips from some friends with more experience of Hollywood.

'In both homes, she wants her dressing areas to have natural light. She is very concerned that the light in Los Angeles - especially in the hills where they will be living - is a lot more pure and unforgiving.
'She has also been talking about having a 360-degree mirror, like on Trinny and Susannah, so that she can see herself from every angle and will not get caught out by Los Angeles's ever-present paparazzi.'
The friend added: 'One famous friend in particular is telling her they must present themselves as British aristocrats if they want to survive. American TV audiences love all that stuff.

'They should be saying things like "Well, of course, at four o'clock, when one likes to take tea".
To do well, Victoria will have to really play - basically being even more English than when she is in England.'

  8. I didn't know their son needed medical treatment. I hope it all works out for them.

  9. The article above sounds a little too ridiculous to be true. I am glad to see the writer is a mind reader.:s

  10. As opposed to being known for your merits...

  11. Like this outfit. The outfit she wore at the airport made her look like a joke.

  12. loving parents

  13. All other matters aside, I hope they find help for their son's condition.

  14. The article does seem somewhat ridiculous even though it is true that most people in the U.S. are not familiar with the Becks but I do hope that they enjoy themselves in LA!

  15. I never knew about Romeo until now
