Hi ladies! I am interested in purchasing a strand of pearls but just wanted to know what the usual length is, 16" or 18"? I am also looking at the Pearls - Pearl Jewelry Store - Pearl Necklaces and Earrings - Akoya, Tahitian and Freshwater Pearls site and I was wondering how reasonable the prices are. I've purchased Akoya pearl studs from them before and they look great but I don't know how much pearls should cost. Thanks!

I couldn't decide between the 16 or 18 inch, so I went with a 17 inch pearl strand. I paid $1000 for AAA quality and 8.5-9mm pearls. I think the 18 inch is the classic length.
I think that 18" is a more mature length and will be very timeless in the long run. When I was younger I wore 16", and now I'm ready for 18" because it looks more appropriate with suits as well as jeans on the weekend. 17" like someone said above is also a great compromise.
