New to LV - Why don't people like patina?

I guess it just depends on what YOU like.

Not everybody will like the same thing.

Some people like it to be "brand new" light , some like it to be the honey color and some like it to be dark.

I really like my bags darker. I am always trying to rush the patina process along. But there is a difference between a beautiful rich honey colour and black from dirt and grime.

I like the patina but not when it gets black and ugly. I saw a girl carrying a Speedy that really looked dirty...I don't like that.

I don't mind patina...but I hate DIRTY patina....
especially if it is uneven. I'm fanatically careful with my bags, so it's not a problem for me....

I like mine in nice even and clean HONEY patina...
I dont mind them getting darker as long as its even and not dirty looking.

It's particular to the owner of the piece. I've heard many a story detailing women "sun tanning" their bags to speed up the patina process. I personally don't like new, white vachetta - it screams "just off the rack!!" to me . I think the patina gives a bag character - a more vintage, rustic, loved, classic look. JMO

I don't mind if the handles darken to honey colour, but how do u keep it clean and prevent it from becoming black/dirty? Special leather cleaner?

I like to see some patina. I just don't like when it gets really dark or dirty looking.

i dont like it too much cause i like the paleness of the handles/straps etc. but i know some people love it so they dont look like an lv noob (or so my coworker says) i think its kinda cute that he feels that way. but its all personal preference. i mean i dont love it. but i still ended up getting a bag which will patina in time...and you know..i love my bag!
