New Tip for spotting fake LVs?

My friend has just got into town and gave me this tip for spotting fake LVs! According to her, the way to spot a fake LV is to dab a drip of water onto the leather handle and if it changes to a darker color then you've got a genuine one.

According to her, the fake ones will not change colour and the drip of water will just stay on the leather.

I don't think that's very wise... if you put water on the vachetta of a real bag, you'll risk having a water spot on it!
